#KeepEyesonSudan I was pleased to meet today with Congressman Rich McCormick @RepMcCormick and the team of Senator Ted Cruz @SenTedCruz in Washington D.C. to discuss some of the critical realities on the ground in Sudan. We spoke about several issues including Ending foreign aggression is essential to stopping the war in Sudan. We addressed the immense humanitarian toll on the Sudanese people and the urgent need to halt all external interventions and dismantle supply chains, particularly those from the UAE, that are arming the RSF militia and destabilizing the whole region. We addressed how it is irrational to equate a national government army attempting to protect its people and enforce law and order with a fascist militia that governs through chaos and terror and systematically commits violations to subjugate communities and civilians as a weapon of war. We discussed the severe impact of the RSF’s occupation on Khartoum, and the violations committed against the Christian community, as well as Chairman Burhan’s unifying visit on Easter Sunday to the Virgin Mary Church which reflects the difference between the logic of the state and the chaos of the militia. We agreed on the need of cutting through coordinated disinformation campaigns that obscure facts and try to hide and them in an epidemiological maze, with the attempts to falsely link the Sudanese government to Islamists, and mischaracterize this war as an ideological one. This is an existential war in which all Sudanese are defending themselves in the face of fascism and foreign intervention. U.S. engagement and Sudan policy must be grounded in facts, not manufactured narratives. I strongly urged U.S. officials to visit Sudan and witness the reality firsthand, rather than relying on distorted accounts by malicious actors and agenda-driven mouthpieces. While there is no militarily conclusion of wars, no nation should be asked to surrender its sovereignty to foreign aggression. The Sudanese people have stood firm—and will continue to defend the independence of their homeland. #StandWithSudan
