@CepnikMaciej Gracias. Check out the inside neck of your shirt collar by the end of the day if you are out and about in the street, especially now in the dry season.

@BowTiedPassport Interesting take. Mexico City posh social circles consider celebrating a 15 in a visible or flamboyant way very very Naco. They don’t do it since clearly signals that the young lady is NOT part of that “elite”.

Where does all that cash Americans spend buying crystal meth, cocaine, and fentanyl end up? A bit of it here, in the Jardines de Humaya cemetery in Sinaloa, where many narcos are buried, and they have monuments to their violent entrepreneurial lives...

@alinainmiami The yellow cutie is the escort boat that helps bigger boats get around the bay and ports. They usually have a “pilot” a special boat captain who drives the large ships in and out of ports

@davidrkadler She is signaling the gringos to intervene while maintaining the telenovela appearance of sovereignty to her low IQ base. She's telling the gringos: "Hurry, this is getting out of hand" Just this week: Coatzacoalcos, Taxis, oil at $100 and a burning brand new refinery in flames.

Viva México 🇲🇽 🤩 President Claudia Sheinbaum announced today that Mexico seeks to resume fuel shipments to Cuba. A huge victory for the Cuban people, for the sovereignty of Mexico, and the integrity of the international trade system at large ♥️

@CepnikMaciej At this rate, with Mex having to import oil and gasoline from the gringos, and their third world refinery in Dos Bocas in flames and death, they’ll be selling you Bacardi for your car by the end of May.

I just heard on the radio in my Uber in CDMX that Claudia Sheinbaum is considering implementing a “Ley Seca” (no alcohol sales) during the FIFA World Cup. That sounds crazy… is that actually true?

@SandyofCthulhu You can still drive through Campeche , Quintana Roo and Yucatan and see small villages like that today. There's a concrete road, loads of speed bumps, a little church and a "miscelanea", but they're all still there. They even still speak Yucatec Maya.

The Spanish arrival absolutely means the destruction of the Mayans that destroyed his village, and a war on the foul gods who demanded murder. But Garra Jaguar lived in a village in the jungle. The Spanish conquest would have little or no effect on such a village for decades, if ever. Garra Jaguar could live out his life in peace. Over time, his descendents would convert (or be converted) to Christianity. Would there be oppression under the Spanish? Absolutely. But not as vile as under the cruel city-states that ruled before.
King Targaryen 🐉@KingTargaryenn

Let's unpack this.. What if the White House has no intention of reopening the Strait of Hormuz? What if this war is really about ships & tariffs? I had a long discussion with senior DOE official yesterday on background. I can’t share any details but it’s clear everyone’s Strait of Hormuz calculus is wrong. We need to go back to the drawing boards. That's it. That's the tweet. Now a hypothetical 🧵 with my personal thoughts.

One reason foreigners are so impressed by Mexico City is that they show up expecting nothing. 🇲🇽 Their image of Mexico is shaped by news coverage, almost always centered on violence, and movies that never depict what everyday life in CDMX actually looks like. So when they arrive and find this massive, bustling city with an endless variety of things to do, it hits different.

Culturally the Mexica had a very old, extremely sophisticated social hierarchy. Remember that their culture came from one that was as old as India (Olmecs). They had very clear understanding of violence social standing and authoritative power. When the Christian Spanish came it did not disappear completely, but blended. Hence why you see the “day of the dead” and the Virgin of Guadalupe shrine built on the site of the Tonantzin temple, which happened to be the location of the temple of the pre-columbian maternity and fertility deity.

@CepnikMaciej @CFEmx I agree, hermano. But there is a very strong, often unspoken cultural element to Mexico specifically, that is the very predatory and violent inheritance of the Mexica social hierarchy that is still very much present there. 400 years is not that long ago.
