Hi @MHCC_ ! As part of my university course, I’m researching post-secondary students mental health. My peers and I wonder: what are some educational tools parents can be equipped with to understand this topic and aid their kids?

Hi @YMHCanada! As part of my university course, I’m researching post-secondary students mental health. My peers and I wonder: how can students feel connected to one another and the content they are learning when distance apart is crucial right now?

Beth Dennis, Queen’s student, expresses her concern with wait times for mental healthcare within universities. This forces students to turn to the private sector which is expensive, compromise within their budget restraints or not receive therapy at all. queensjournal.ca/story/2021-11-…

The competitive nature of post secondary forces students to base their worth on grades. Additionally, cultural stigma and linguistic barriers force many students to reject reaching out for help. Addressing these root issues is the first step to change. #EM203Robin #EM203research

Today's quote comes from Jenna Pfeifer "It is important to build a strong support network that can help remove the stigma around mental health and provide students & faculty with the tools they need to support themselves & each other" #AcademicMentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness

@EthanKlausz I’m also interested in climate change. An addition in a problem to your map can be how economic classes will feel varying effects of climate change, it is not a uniform effect by any means and I’d find research in that to be interesting and important.

@LaurenCEM203 Hi Lauren, I’m also passionate about student mental health. I’d also add the issue of languages.Often therapy or other services are not available with language and cultural sensitivity in mind. It can limit/hinder someone from using services at all. #EM203problems

@EM203Santi Hi Santiago, I completely agree! It’s shocking when taking a step back & realizing how much our society depends on tech in disseminating/absorbing info. I’d be intrigued to learn how diff cultures use tech for their own benefit and how we can learn from one another. Great post!

Over the past three weeks of this course it has been a treat to explore how learning has changed in the digital age, the different ways in which to learn, and all the resources and strategies that are available. It was also pretty fun learning how to dance Tango.#EM203Robin

@EM203wmujahid Hi Wadooha, I agree! By being exposed to diff learning theories, it allows educators/parents to cater and tap into their students/kids strengths. Individuals, at any age, can absorb info and excel based on how they learn best - fuelling confidence/expertise.

In the first 3 weeks of this course I've learned a lot about how someone can learn with technology. I've expanded my knowledge on the different learning theories used such as learning by doing which is frequently used today both in and outside of class. #EM203Robin

@ethanthom13 Hi Ethan, I completely agree! Diversity in information online grants everyone instant answers. Simultaneously tho, freedom in posting/sharing can be harmful with fake news/uninformed opinions etc. We must be vigilant and stay critical of online info/sources.

@EM203Joseph Hi Joseph, totally agree. One thing that stands out to me is how the evolution of tech impacts how quickly/many individuals can learn simultaneously globally. Thus, curating various important discourses for all to partake in. Great post!

In my first lessons of EM203, I read about the digital revolution and the impacts that the consistent evolution of technology has had on our learning as a whole. Building upon this information, I also learned that I identify with Learning Group D: "Learn By Doing". #EM203Robin

So far, I’ve grasped how socialization is directly impacted by the internet. Whether actively/passively, our minds are constantly remolded with shifting nodes of info which we claim as knowledge (connectivism). So, it is important to constantly question what we know #EM203Robin
