It's #WorldArabicLanguageDay! Here is one of our TDC Award Winners, HudHud by Maha Akl of Cairo. Her typeface received a 2020 certificate in Typeface Design. "Hudhud's concept is centred around mixing influences from the two constructions of the Arabic script: Solid and Fluid."

Kammavaca, lacquered palm leaf sheets between two lacquered wooden lids, Burma, ca. 1900. This ordination manuscript is written in Pali in the stylized tamarind seed script. It contains passages from the Tipitaka — the Theravada Buddhist canon — related to life in the monastery.

Very rare and highly secretive, not much is known about the endangered Gee’s golden langur. Unlike other species of langurs that appear unafraid of humans, researchers have said that this monkey works hard to avoid human interactions, making them extremely difficult to observe.
