Southern Railway is reluctant to convert the existing 8-coach Vande Bharat service between Chennai and Coimbatore into a 16-coach train due to limited patronage. If that is being the case, how can the idea of a bullet train on this stretch even be considered? Bullet train services will be economically viable only in Chennai- Mysuru or Chennai -Thiruvananthapuram sections.

Chennai-Coimbatore HSR would be a game changer benefitting Chennai, North TN and Western TN. It should follow proper alignment via Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai, Salem,Erode,Tiruppur. Whether it's Road or Rail, for some reasons, this alignment is being shelved one way or another.
