@lutzfernandez Still one of the most illuminating quotes I've run across. Chris Rufo at Hillsdale in his "Laying siege to the institutions" speech:
"To get universal school choice, you really need to operate from a place of universal school distrust."
You may not be LGBTQ, Black, an immigrant, woman, student, teacher, professor, blogger, newspaper, elected prosecutor, a business with an opinion, or gun violence victim…
…but eventually the black hole that is Ron DeSantis’ culture wars will consume you and your freedoms too.
Under SB202/HB1, universal vouchers, MILLIONAIRES will get taxpayer money to cover their tuition expenses. Gov. DeSantis says that’s not a great use of taxpayer money. Today in committee Rep. Randy Fine said “I’m one of those millionaires that will get a scholarship.” #flapol
It's the 1st day of session & Speaker Renner is saying the bills passed this session will end indoctrination & sexualization of our children in our schools. Says the DEI "movement" is Orwellian, saying equity now means picking winners and losers. Watch on thefloridachannel.com
I think I wore right socks to the Senate Ed Prek-12 Committee considering private school vouchers. It is really an opt out of public schools tax rebate. Millionaires will get a tax rebate for sending their kids to private schools, taking $4 BILLION out of our public schools.
“There are some people that think you have a right to have some taxpayer institutions with no accountability. That they should just be able to do whatever they want,” DeSantis said. “That is not happening in the state of Florida.”So I guess DeSantis will veto HB1?
New @NewCollegeofFL trustees just canceled and fired the current President, and now they want Richard Corcoran to be the interim President and the main reason they're giving is "we know him" LOL
"Remember, privatization is not just about privatizing schooling... it's also about privatizing the responsibility for providing an education and making it the private problem of parents instead of the shared responsibility of the community." curmudgucation.blogspot.com/2022/05/the-fu…
