Energy Alberta has advanced the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power Project into the Impact Statement phase of the federal regulatory process. This phase is guided by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada in collaboration with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, and involves a comprehensive, science-based review of the Project, as well as continued engagement with Indigenous Nations and Communities and the public. Appreciated the update on the Peace River Nuclear Power Project. Through our recent public engagement, we heard Albertans are open to the idea of nuclear energy, but has thoughtful questions about safety, waste management, and environmental protections. While nuclear energy is federally regulated, the province will take a look at how to address any gaps that may exist, especially in the context of Alberta's unique electricity system, as we work to develop a nuclear energy roadmap and consider how best to move forward with nuclear energy in our province.
