The upcoming WWDC and billboards like this all over the Bay Area are making me wonder: Are we about to get a new privacy push from Apple, especially around fingerprinting?

@the_boriginal What’s funny is that Apple is not fully private either, it’s really a marketing narrative. You are still heavily tracked all over the mobile web unless you are a paid customer using private relay

@eniac Could be. It definitely feels like Apple is the only one that still talks about privacy. Especially since Google entered AI race, even though before it wasn't great, now you 100% now nothing is private on Google products, including android.

“Actually private” feels like a pretty pointed message. Because today, privacy is no longer just about cookies or incognito tabs. The real battle is around fingerprinting, probabilistic attribution, device graphs, IP matching, and all the invisible ways companies try to reconstruct identity and user behavior. So when Apple says Safari is “actually private,” it feels less like marketing copy and more like a warning shot. Especially ahead of WWDC.

@JonahLupton @eniac Welcome to the $snap army. We have been trying to bring pressure on the board and Evan the terrible for couple of months. Did you know about the other large accounts as well as the @IrenicCap activist campaign? See here:

So many great Accounts that have been pounding the table about $SNAP @aleabitoreddit @gurgavin @IrenicCap @RandianCapital @profgalloway @mreiffy Let me tell you something. This is the Perfect use case for a bottom up retail led activist campaign pair it with vitality and we can achieve real change to the voting structure, governance and SBC!! Let’s do it. It would slap hard, especially once Adam got in there to fix the problems, accelerate monetization and streamline operations/costs. The problem is that I doubt $SNAP management sells for less than $20B However, I think Adam could get $SNAP to $3.5B ebitda (bear case)... $4.6B ebitda (base case)... and $5.8B ebitda (bull case) tbh, buying $SNAP for $20B definitely makes sense in all of these scenarios

With AppLovin $APP publishing a Pinterest-like social app, and now $META releasing a Reddit competitor, you can literally SEE how the cost of app development goes down ⬇️ and the speed with which you can ship entirely new products goes up ⬆️ in the age of AI. Doesn't mean network effects won't defend existing network-based platforms, but I feel like it reinforces the worries software investors rightfully have.

I wanted to close the loop on today’s discussion around $APP’s new social app, Gist, and the question of whether AppLovin can scale it to 10M+ users. Scaling apps is their core business. This is what they are best at, and if/when Gist is ready for prime time, I would expect them to scale it aggressively. It is also worth noting that this would not be their first time scaling first-party consumer apps. Back when AppLovin was publishing mobile games, titles like Matchington Mansion, Wordscapes, and Project Makeover all became massive businesses, reaching well over $100M+ ARR. They scaled them quickly and efficiently, thanks to their own first-party ad network. So I don’t think the main question is whether AppLovin can drive tens of millions of installs for Gist. The real question is whether they can build a product sticky enough for people to use every day. Social products are hard. Just look at how many times Meta tried before Threads worked, despite having one of the strongest network-effect advantages in the world. But if AppLovin does pull this off, the upside could be massive: better margins through owned-and-operated inventory, stronger first-party signals, and additional supply to support the continued growth of their eCommerce business.

@Julien4Future I think that is a really really hard problem to solve, and definitely the biggest challenge in front of them.

@eniac The interesting part for me is not the Pinterest look. It’s whether they can make a more useful mobile feed feel better than brain rot.

The most interesting $APP find of the day, coming directly from the Applovin cult is that they released a $PINS like looking app called Gist. It's invite only (for now) so hard to say what is this is really about, but definitely worth looking into apps.apple.com/us/app/gist-li…
