#Syria Rami Makhlouf in his latest crazy post decides that 963, Syria country code, is the righteous path and 666 is the bad path and thus a new war between Iran and USA\Israel will happen in June and will lead to a bloodbath in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. Also 6666 is a symbol of nuclear fallout 🤷‍♂️

That Syria is in the hands of a handful of powerful families was *seperatist propaganda* when I as a Kurd said it - now Karam Shaar and other Jolani fanatics are saying it and it’s a big revelation. The window of opportunity to change this status quo has been closed however. Syria will never be able to strip these families of their political and economic power - they will leech off of public funds and purge anyone who dares to criticise it. Syria has become a far worse version of Iraq.

@Mohk82 @karimfranceschi I honestly don’t think this counts as being pro-Kurdish even, from the way he writes, you’d think he almost hates them and their history of political organizing and social integration

New Syria just gave the Kurds a preview of their political future: a managed parliamentary election of HTS-approved names, the women are missing, the actual Kurdish political rapresentation is sidelined, and the loyal nobodies get seats.

@karimfranceschi How can you in one hand claim to be pro human rights, and on the other hand regularly write so derisively of Syrians? I ask this to you and all the activists here who have decided internally that Syrians only deserve humanity on the basis of sect and ethnicity.

The article by @Charles_Lister on the Druze province of Sweida — which he portrays as having become the regional capital of drug trafficking with Israeli support — is a typical example of the work produced by certain think tanks that claim to employ researchers when, in reality, they function more as influencers. In his article, Lister relies on his own sources and data, notably those from Syria Weekly, a publication he himself founded. He presents figures and statistics without ever specifying their sources. Regarding Sweida, he refers to “local media,” meaning Suwayda24, whose accounts and website have reportedly been hacked by operatives linked to the transitional government for several months now. Lister writes as though Syria’s drug problem originated in Sweida, despite the fact that these trafficking networks have existed far beyond the province and long before its invasion. Lister also avoids mentioning Farhane al-Marsoumy, the leader of the militia bearing his name and one of the largest drug traffickers of the Assad era. He worked under the orders of Maher al-Assad, the brother of the “Butcher of Damascus,” before pledging allegiance to Charaa’s transitional government. He reportedly sent his militia to participate in the massacres of Druze civilians alongside government forces in order to prove his loyalty to Charaa. Since then, the family’s “legal businesses” have resumed operations, and he has reportedly secured several public contracts in the Deir ez-Zor region. And as recently as yesterday, Saturday, June 24, 2026, Nawaf al-Bachir returned to Syria as a “hero.” Who is Nawaf al-Bachir? A former pro-Iranian militia leader within Baker’s group known as the “Lions of the Tribes.” He recruited young men to serve the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and financed his activities through drug trafficking. He returned to his hometown of Mhimidia in Deir ez-Zor in a convoy of dozens of vehicles celebrating his return in a display reminiscent of a mafia procession. Lister also avoids mentioning the conclusions of the UN report on the brutal invasion of the province of Sweida, whose legal qualification of the ethnic cleansing carried out by government troops and their allies could amount to crimes against humanity. The report does acknowledge abuses committed by other actors, including certain Druze factions and Bedouin tribes, but it implicitly highlights a clear asymmetry in terms of scale, systematic nature, and underlying logic. Not all violence falls into the same category: the abuses committed by some fighters are incomparable to those carried out by government troops and their allies. On the issue of justice, the report highlights the weakness — and that word is an understatement — of the government’s response. The transitional government did establish a national commission of inquiry that documented the violence, including deaths, injuries, and abuses. However, the commission appears partial: it risks prosecuting only low-level perpetrators while shielding political leaders from accountability. It is also widely seen as lacking independence and incapable of addressing responsibility at the highest levels. The consequences of this weakness — if not outright absence — of justice, as described in the report, are significant: the lack of genuine accountability perpetuates a culture of impunity in the country, raising fears that such massacres could happen again. The report provides figures illustrating this reality: only 23 people were arrested following the Sweida massacres, despite the report discussing acts that could qualify as crimes against humanity. Some of those arrested were later released under the presidential amnesty of March 2026. None of this is mentioned by Lister. Worse still, he blames Hijri for blocking the middle school and high school examinations in Sweida. What Lister fails to mention is that an agreement had been reached between the Sweida education directorate and the Ministry of Education allowing the exams to take place inside the province. It was the presidential office that rejected the agreement and demanded that students travel to Damascus and Daraa to sit for their exams. This demand was rejected by many residents following repeated attacks against Druze students in Syrian universities, and especially after the massacre in February in which five Druze farmers were killed while working in their olive groves by a man affiliated with the Ministry of Interior. So now, what do you think of Charles Lister’s article?

The third verse of the Sura that denies God has begotten is surely intended as a specific denial and rebuke of the Christian notion of the Son of God. But yes, it is stupid to fret about it. The simple fact is that Islam & Christianity fundamentally diverge on the Trinity concept
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

Frum is both out of his depth and lying about Muslims as usual. Lander beautifully recited Surah Ikhlas, one of the most famous chapters of the Quran which affirms the oneness of God. It says nothing about Christianity and is an affirmation of monotheism: quran.com/al-ikhlas

I wanted to close the loop on today’s discussion around $APP’s new social app, Gist, and the question of whether AppLovin can scale it to 10M+ users. Scaling apps is their core business. This is what they are best at, and if/when Gist is ready for prime time, I would expect them to scale it aggressively. It is also worth noting that this would not be their first time scaling first-party consumer apps. Back when AppLovin was publishing mobile games, titles like Matchington Mansion, Wordscapes, and Project Makeover all became massive businesses, reaching well over $100M+ ARR. They scaled them quickly and efficiently, thanks to their own first-party ad network. So I don’t think the main question is whether AppLovin can drive tens of millions of installs for Gist. The real question is whether they can build a product sticky enough for people to use every day. Social products are hard. Just look at how many times Meta tried before Threads worked, despite having one of the strongest network-effect advantages in the world. But if AppLovin does pull this off, the upside could be massive: better margins through owned-and-operated inventory, stronger first-party signals, and additional supply to support the continued growth of their eCommerce business.

@Mohk82 It's not as simple, requires longer feedback loops + a different optimization logic that leverages this loop. It's less focused on CPI, more on the depth of revenue. Plus hybrid (in-app ads + in-app purchases) is always an issue as it's prone to errors.

After months of beta testing, $U has finally launched D28 Ad Revenue ROAS and D28 Hybrid ROAS optimization in Unity Ads. Two new campaign types that optimize toward 28-day post-install return, either from ad revenue alone or ad revenue + IAP revenue (hybrid). $APP was the first to bring D28 optimization to scale, and at this point, it’s becoming an industry standard. Important move for $U.
