Wishing everyone at @nationaltrust a very Happy 130th Birthday. What is your favourite National Trust site? I love the history of Woolsthorpe Manor National Trust. When the boys were small we loved to let them explore Mottisfont, National Trust. Now the protected headlands of North Devon give us amazing places to walk and surf. And Dad has been a volunteer guide Uppark House and Garden (National Trust) for years. Thank you to all the fantastic volunteers who keep the show on the road. Thank you to the National Trust for everything you do to protect our landscape and heritage for future generations.

Happy birthday to us! 130 today and still going strong 💪 A big thank you to everyone who is celebrating with us ♥️

It's hard to schedule time for major overhauls of production equipment when clients constantly need PCBs produced, so the Christmas / NY break is about the only chance I get to do it. Time to make a mess! Step 1: Rip out the lighting and paint the ceiling beams

@josefprusa Allow proper folder support in prusa link / prusa connect would be another biggie for me as I use it for business churning out products so being able to categorise would be great as I did in octoprint

@josefprusa Low temp error gives no option but reboot the printer. An option to heat to 30 degrees as a warm up option would be fantastic!

Here's my 'under development' 4.58" 320x960 TFT LCD replacement for the Advantest R6581.......what a journey so far learning how to drive an 18bit TFT LCD from scratch! Driven from an STM32 Blue Pill and LT7680A-R controller. Great fun!

I forget I have the laser cutter sometimes, was handy today for prototyping a pcb to see what a physical fit will be in a case. And yes I left the little logo in still 🤣

@PaterPracticus Forgot to mention we found a ESP chip used on a 125 buffet carriage the other day which links into the seat reservation modules. Designed and made by MCLaren no less!

I’d been thinking I’d have to fit my #raspberrypi Zero diagonally in my Class 53, but it looks like it might be able to fit flat under the roof. Does anyone know how close to the edge the vital parts go, and if I’d be ok to remove 2mm of the board from beside the GPIO pins?

@martinfasani @no1089 Oh I still hand assemble test boards for certain, only thing I try and force myself to do is buy a proper stencil even for test boards as I used to try and laser cut them but ended up with more problems.

@no1089 @eplop Yes it is. But is clear that if it’s not QFN and you are still making test revisions is easier to go cheaper and solder by hand. Now when you have first working production prototype is worth to go fully PCBA That’s what I do in #JLCPCB

In the last weeks we observed a stunning price different in some MCUs. Left: #LCSC Right: Aliexpress This made me think that this parts will have to be soldered by hand. 3,52€ is 3,80 USD. 6,50 USD - 3,80 = 2.7 USD is 50 % cheaper to buy it in Aliexpress.

@no1089 @martinfasani yeah I totally agree a balance, like I still sit bagging up kits to sell as I just couldn't face paying someone to do that.

@eplop @martinfasani It's a tricky balance between saving the money vs. working on higher value things. If I can work on the next design while waiting on the PCBA, that makes me more money than I'd save by soldering it myself. The time I've spent debugging bad reflow cost me a ton in frustration.

@martinfasani @no1089 It also comes down a lot to how much your time is worth. When I started out doing my store i did everything in house but I'm really trying to shift everything to pcba now so I can concentrate on new designs and docs. My problem has been getting to a point of affording that.

@eplop @no1089 Sure for that cases is understandable. But for others that are not QFN and can be safely soldered is another story
