Somehow, she is still alive.
Victoria - a 26-year-old mum to two children - suffered life-changing critical injuries in a brutal and horrendous act of male-perpetrated domestic violence on the weekend.
NSW Police had to taser her partner after he refused to stop the car when they tried to pull him over at Coonamble, NSW, on the weekend.
In the car were Victoria and her four-year-old and 18-month-old children. Police found Victoria suffering significant injuries.
If it wasn’t for the swift action of police and paramedics, Victoria would likely have died. She suffered over 20 machete stab wounds, three broken ribs, a punctured lung, facial injuries and suspected nerve damage. Right now she is in hospital, holding onto life as her family holds vigil by her side.
Her injuries are life-altering and she will never fully recover from them. The psychological impact of his abuse is also unmeasurable. Her family has set up a GoFundMe to ensure she has some money to help her and her children navigate the many months - if not years - of recovery.
“The emotional toll of what she has endured will take immense time, care, and support to heal,” Katherine and Ellie wrote on the GFM.
“Victoria is expected to undergo multiple surgeries as part of her recovery, followed by ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation, and trauma support.
“Victoria is a devoted single mother to her two beautiful children who absolutely adore her. In an instant, their world has been turned upside down. Right now, their family is focused on ensuring they are safe, supported, and surrounded by love as they navigate this unimaginable time.”
He is charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, and wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm.
The GoFundMe will help cover: • Medical and recovery-related expenses; Emergency accommodation and daily living costs; Ongoing care and support for her children; Relocation costs to move her children to a safer environment; and Legal and safety needs as they move forward.

You don’t get to claim ANZAC, mateship,or “Australian values” while booing the oldest living culture on the planet. That’s not pride, that’s small, insecure crap. You’ve taken a moment meant for respect and turned it into a circus.Embarrassing doesn’t even begin to cover it. #auspol

There's a likely rapist targeting women in Mackay right now and the message from police should be 'stop hurting women, stop being violence'.
Not this fucking shit.
The cops do not have to tell us to 'not exercise alone' and to not 'listen to music' while we run - we already do what we can to keep ourselves safe.
We have every right to run when we want, by ourselves or with others, and have our headphones on.

One of the things I love about Melbourne is the way its residents ignore the Herald Sun
Rohan Connolly@rohan_connolly
Love the fact a Melbourne newspaper which spends 24/7 pissing all over its own city via its whingeing columnists like Andrew Bolt & Steve Price now has to run this news story through gritted teeth. They're full of it. And we all know they are, too. Well done again, Melbourne.👍

I was today years old when I found out that “reasonably believing” a child was old enough to consent to sex can be used as a legal defence.
I’m shocked it isn’t absolute. The inconvenience of confirming someone’s age shouldn’t be enough to sustain this loophole.
Shut it down.
Aaron Smith@aaronsmith
The 27 year old man does not deny meeting up with a 13 year old boy and having sex with him (aka rape). His defence is that he thought the boy was 17, and that appears to have worked. I'm fucking lost. What is this?

A former NSW Liberal MP, Rory Amon, has been found not guilty on multiple serious child rape charges - including four counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 14, two attempted, and two indecent assaults -after allegedly meeting and engaging in sexual acts with a 13-year-old boy in a Sydney car park bathroom back in 2017.
The jury couldn't agree on the remaining charges, but the acquitted ones hinged on Amon's claim he believed the teen was 17 despite the massive age/power imbalance and the obvious red flags.
A 27 yr old politician hooking up via Grindr with someone who turned out to be 13, and the system says "not guilty" because he "reasonably" thought otherwise?
This is exactly why victims hesitate to come forward and why trust in justice feels so broken right now. On what fucking planet is "he said he was 17" a defence?
