Tengo 37 años y tengo amigos con los que crecí, amigos que tienen mi edad, que han aceptado que jamás se podrán comprar un piso aquí en Mallorca. Tantos años viviendo al límite de alquiler no da para ahorrar y sin ahorro no puedes comprar. Los años pasan y ahora acercándose a las 40 no tienen ya tiempo de ahorrar para firmar 30 años de hipoteca, no les da la vida literalmente. Son ciudadanos que han hecho lo que les dijeron, estudiar y trabajar, y ahora asumen que jamás tendrán un piso o una casa a su nombre. Nunca. Si eso no es un fracaso de la sociedad entera yo ya no sé.

From recent years, I guess 3D TV is a good example. Not that it didn't work - well, it never worked super well either - but it was just pointless. Solving no problem and creating no desire. What's the 3D TV of the 1980s, 1950s, 1850s, 1500s?

I love technology and am generally an optimist, but clearly not all tech is destined to shape our future. What are examples of tech that was once thought to conquer the world, but then fizzled? Particularly if it's not because of competition, but the world just wasn't interested.
