@stats_feed I've worked in Mexico, Colombia, US and France. For me as a software engineer Mexico was the worse: 48 hours/week, 1-2 weeks of vacations, not so many bank holidays. France was 37hr/week and about 8w off. Colombia was 40hr/w, 5 weeks off, 20 bank holidays. USA 40hr/w, 5w off

What's more surprising to you? That Germany works 22 fewer weeks per year than Mexico – or that Mexico has a higher GDP growth rate? Which stat hits harder?

@BowTiedPassport I live in Mexico and what’s interesting is that I take public transportation and always see a lot of people with iPhones. I still find it funny. 😆 I think a lot more people have it than one might think.

People get butthurt over these posts, but the but the reality is, Mexico as a whole CAN NOT afford iPhones. The median monthly income in Mexico is about $450. US median is about $4,000. An iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099 in the US. In Mexico, after taxes and tariffs, it’s roughly $1,600. It would take the median Mexican over 3.5 months of their entire salary to buy one phone. For an American, it's about one week of work.  Because of Mexico’s abysmal financial literacy, some people are on weekly financing models with up to 50% interest. It should also be noted that nearly half of the iPhones in the country are second-hand imports from the US and Canada.  So, realistically about 5% of the country can afford to outright buy a new iPhone.
