@FarmrHuntr Spent years working for $800-$1,000/mo just to work with the best. Miserably poor, but wouldn't be where I am without those experiences.

I moved 800 miles from home for my 1st college internship which paid $10/day plus lodging. I worked at Pizza Hut nights and weekends to pay bills. That one job opened so many doors to help launch my career. Plus I met my future wife in that city. Zero regrets for the sacrifice.

My SIL is in the process of applying for an internship. She wants to go to a working ranch out west. She has found a couple but the pay is absolutely ridiculous low. 1,000/month but room and board is provided. 🚩 internships are slave labor and our country needs to do better.

It's ugly and I kinda hate it, but it just won't die and is easy on fuel. So, it is almost a money printer.

@eric_thalken That looks beautiful. Was that following wheat or a full season crop?

@Bkitch1Bodie Horsch RT28. We'll finish with it as well. Any more biomass we'd have to switch out for Lemken Rubin 12.

@eric_thalken What tillage tool you using to incorporate? An will you hit with field cultivator following that or plant right into that?

@partialtruth Looked crappy until not long ago. April was extremely cold and dry. 3" of rain and a few 90° days later. . .

How is everyone handling the labor crisis? IMO it appears the operations that can navigate this will be in a good position to grow in the short and long term.

@drsplace always tells the truth. There's a lot of fresh energy in agriculture - it's awesome. Just hope it isn't co-opted by BS artists, because they're piling up. Reminds me of agtech euphoria 5 or 6 years ago.
Sara Place@drsplace

GHG emissions & potential to increase carbon stocks in soils are not easy to measure or alter in agriculture. Both are largely driven by microbes that are a part of complex ecological systems influenced by climate, soil types, animal diets, host animal genetics, and so on.

I spent the morning with Eric Thalken, one of the Nebraska Pea & Lentil Board’s inaugural directors. Tomorrow on @NTVNEWS, I’ll explain what he and another member hope to accomplish while serving on this board.
