@wylfcen @substack Not all fonts have all glyphs, so the system subs in the glyph from a similar font. Try different fonts.

@RampantCoyote @DaddyWarpig Wizards had ‘taunt’ for that. Combine with ‘grease’ for even more fun. ‘ Ventriloquism’ + ‘taunt’ is also fun.

@DaddyWarpig While it is a cleric spell, not a wizard-spell, I liked to use "command" at low-level in 3.x to command an enemy to approach me... after positioning myself for maximum attacks of opportunity from my party members. It could be BRUTAL. Think like a spellcaster.

If you’re playing AD&D, this isn’t a problem. Stop trying to play the Magic-User like a fighter, focusing on direct damage, and start looking at the spells available to you because they’re supremely vicious even at Level 1. MU are lateral thinkers and support masters, not direct fire. Ponder THAT orb.
