Police say a 28-year-old California man allegedly bought expensive LEGO sets, kept the pieces and returned the boxes filled with dry pasta. Authorities say the scheme was repeated about 70 times nationwide before he was caught.

How did everyone get signs made so fast?! Last time I went to Staples, it took an hour to Xerox ten pages.

My heart goes out to Savannah Guthrie. The emotions she must feel knowing how close she is with her mom. I’d hate to see how my wife would handle her mother being kidnapped, who also lives with us, at 419 Victory Drive, Lubbock, Texas. Gate Code: 4298.

I never write long diatribes on social media. Whenever a post says "read more" ... I don't. But after a particularly bleak news week and on the 24th anniversary of 9/11, I have been thinking about something so much. I don't know where else to dump it but here. So if you read it, great. and if you don't click "read more," I totally get it. I hate think pieces too. In the weeks that followed 9/11, I remember people saying "If you don't (insert phrase of every day activity), then the terrorists have already won." If you don't fly, then the terrorists have already won. If you don't go to NYC, then the terrorists have already won. If you don't continue to live your life to its fullest, then the terrorists have already won. On this morning, 24 years later, I fear they have. Because that was the day the 24 hour news cycle was born. Before 9/11, I don't remember 24 hour news networks. I know my parents used to watch the news in the morning and at night. There were only two hours of the day in which you got your non biased update on what was happening in the world. But 9/11 happened and we were all glued to our TVs for updates. We couldn't get enough. The ticker showed up on the bottom of the screen. We had news on news. We wanted to read updates while watching updates. That's how much we wanted news. And the more eyes that were on these news networks, the more money they got. And they saw a hunger for information, but particularly info that was sensational. So we never went back to the news in the morning and at night. There was no money in that. Similar to why we haven't found a cure for cancer yet... because there's no money in the cure. there's money in the disease. And the 24 hour news networks were born, which meant they had to fill that time with stories.... and not the good kind. People didn't stay tuned for feel good stories about dogs getting rescued or lives getting saved or all the good stuff that people do. There's no money in the cure. All these news networks have been feeding us hate stories, keeping us scared, keeping us watching, getting us angry, slowly dividing us. Getting our attention and money by playing on our emotions. And they have been sewing that seed of anger and hate and click bait for 24 years. And as we fight, they salivate, knowing that it's all good content. And with every tragedy we enact on each other, they love it knowing it's making them millions. When bin Laden planned that attack on 9/11, it was clear he wanted to kill as many of us as possible... but I don't think he knew the reverberating effect it would have. That years later, being fed a steady diet of hate, we would turn and start killing each other. So on the heels of a string of terrible events... the assassination of Charlie Kirk (I don't care what your politics are, that was the most horrifying thing I've ever seen), an innocent Ukrainian refugee escaping war only to get stabbed and killed on public transit, another school shooting and another school shooting and another school shooting and another school shooting.... as we stay glued to our devices and our news networks for more.... I can't help but think that the terrorists have already won.
