Posted this to the “Exmormons of Twitter” X community. Copying to my main feed just in case: Hello, I’m Jonathan, and I left the Mormon church in 1994. #LDS Now I have four younger children as a grandpa-looking father who’s not a grandpa. After I left the Mormon church, I associated with some atheist groups, but those groups were basically eventually hijacked by the reactionary alphabet soup crowd. Also over the course of many years, I saw how people who claimed to be exmormon basically engaged in the same type of censorship that Mormonism engages in, and sometimes worse. The Church is highly censorious and controlling. Those who leave the church often fully retain those two negative attributes regarding the worser parts of human nature. I am both conservative and liberal. I voted on both sides of political aisle and frankly, the political divide in American & other countries is a sham designed to keep the unaccountable elites in power. But with regard to nuts and bolts and on the ground activities and ensuring that honest opinions can be shared, before Elon took over X, this place was super censorious, and several of my accounts were banned. Since @elonmusk has taken over X, the censorious nature has reduced, but has not reduced to zero. One key aspect about leaving the Mormon church is the matter of being a “trans“ person. From a completely atheistic and secular perspective, it is my view that people who claim to be trans are simply homosexual who have been deceived into the postmodernist-fueled idea and concept that humans can change gender, when they absolutely cannot. Mammals cannot, and do not change gender. Humans cannot and do not change gender. These statements are sacrilege to the secular cult which is trans and gender ideology. This is not a discussion which can be had in any exmormon forum that I have experienced, to date. No one wants to question the “trans” ideology, or the very least those who do question are quickly banned. Such banning really is Mormoneske type censorship and control. I’ve been to several gay bars. I’ve been to gay house parties. I participated in those activities as the token or lone “straight” guy. The friendly observer. Can we make observations about evolution and human nature and about the status of humanity at present without beating shut down and censored? Not within an exmormon online communities, which tend to be angry and reactionary, and highly controlling and abusively censorious. And yes, I admit reactionism and anger are completely reasonable responses to the abuse we all experienced at the hands of people like Boyd Packer and Spencer Kimball. I’m no prude, and I’m actually pro grassroots non-commercial porn, and pro masturbation. Oh my, such stances would make your average ultra Mormon’s head explode. But if one questions “trans” ideology that makes the head of your average exmormon ultra leftist censorious person’s head explode also. Oh well, maybe labeling oneself as an “exmormon” is a mistake. Do I need to label myself as such? Not if it means, sucking up to a bunch of censorious cultists, who engage in even worse censorship than the Mormon church ever did. x.com/jonthebirdman/… .
