This matches my experience almost exactly I've only been on twitter for just over a year now, and I'm almost upset I didn't get on sooner, I've met the most amazing people and had a great time. By far the highest value addition to my life in the last couple years. Was recently telling a friend to get on the platform, and found myself essentially telling him a much more poorly organized version of this essay, now I can just send a link :) Another point about writing tweets not mentioned is how it can fundamentally make you a better writer. The 280 char constraint (which I break in replies like this, but abide by when I post) makes one really good at *aggressively* editing one's own work, removing every bit of fat from a sentence.
