I did this in my former apartment for 2 months and absolutely regretted it. Gave my passwords to my neighbors. Told them it was unlimited. I learned the hard way that unlimited meant different things for different people. For me, it meant being online permanently. Streaming and working was now seamless. For my neighbors, it meant unlimited downloads. Walahi, I couldn’t use it. These guys were downloading 100gb torrents and slowing the speed for everyone. I had to go over and tell them. “It is unlimited. Get on Netflix or prime and stream what you want to watch” I could only talk. They were still downloading. In fact, a particular neighbor brought his friends to come and download and go home. I couldn’t use it because downloading slows down speed for everyone else. Woke up one morning and changed the password. Problem solved. Na me dey pay the subscription. Make I enjoy am.

Passwording your Starlink is another form of wickedness. It’s unlimited, allow people use it!

@ese_republic @XBrianDennis 1. You should not be sharing the same SSID with neighbours. 2. Bandwidth control is done on the router, not through Tor. 3. Tor is free, and it's to be used to prevent the activities of your neighbours from being traced to you. Norton DNS (retired in 2018) cannot do same.

@Kukuruukuu @XBrianDennis Solid, but this is usually not recommended. For a home user with a single SSID, one can control abuse using queue. Tor is built for privacy use cases not bandwidth control, it's expensive for a home user, simply using Norton DNS on a home network can help to filter traffic.

@ese_republic @XBrianDennis This approach is readily circumvented. It would be more effective to allocate dedicated bandwidth to each SSID. This way, the users can only slow themselves down. You can also implement Tor on OpenWRT to prevent their shady activities from being traced to you.

@bojesomofawaz2 @XBrianDennis This is usually done by someone into networking, If you are serious about setting it up, I can help you out, except you are outside Lagos then consult with an IT guy or someone in networking. Internet installers can do it too.

@ese_republic @XBrianDennis I like this kind thing I actually thought about this security measure few days ago, not knowing say someone has implemented it sef. No stress, just allocate am to the werey, or worse sef, allocate 100g to the werey, anytime e finish am, e go stay disconnected.

@Rashnaking An average Nigerian is a demonic heartless individual, a thief with no remorse. I expect nothing good from another fellow Nigerian, cause we are who we are and nothing changes that. Hand a Nigerian the key, and see what door he unlocks. 💔💔

Nigeria is a reflection of the people in it. Someone shot his shot at Victor Osimhen for a jersey and even tagged a vendor. Osimhen saw it and said he’d personally send one.
Then told the vendor to add 15 more jerseys for others. -That’s where it got interesting.- Immediately money entered, the story changed. The vendor suddenly said Osimhen told him to share it himself.
He claimed he had already picked 15 people. —Then it got worse—
He called the same person who brought him the business a scam. From there, he tried to “negotiate”:
7 for the guy, 8 for himself. Greed, plain and simple. The guy refused and asked for all 15 jerseys as instructed. —Next thing—
The vendor switched again.
Said the post was “stolen” and brought another person to justify it. —Now here’s the real problem— Instead of people calling out the wrong,
they started defending it. “Make una settle.”
“Na just jersey.”
“Let it go.” - Someone even offered to pay extra,
rewarding bad behavior. And that’s when it becomes clear: We are not different from the people we complain about in power. —This is how it starts—
small compromise, small dishonesty, small defense of wrong. Nigeria didn’t just become this way overnight.
We built it, little by little, with everyday actions like this. Truth is, many people are only “good” because they’ve not had the opportunity to do worse. One day, we will have an honest conversation about the double standards on this TL. One day.
