We left @Ch_JesusChrist 2 months ago. My husband was the bishop and we have 6 kids. Didn’t have a grand plan, just knew there were things we didn’t believe anymore & things we couldn’t/wouldn’t support anymore. Thought it would feel like falling but mostly it feels like floating

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced two changes to the Presidency of the Seventy. Elder Carl B. Cook (a member of the presidency since 2018) is now Senior President, and Elder Marcus B. Nash has been appointed to the presidency. These new assignments fill the vacancy created by Elder Patrick Kearon’s call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in December 2023. @esherhouse You’re disqualify motivations you don’t like. I have opposition to plenty of people’s reasons for voting for lots of things. But there is a difference between saying that you are wrong about A because of BCD and you’re not allowed to believe in A cause that’s against the rules.

@esherhouse Prop 8 was about the definition of a word. I don’t think you understand what “forcing beliefs” means. Y’all have watered it down so much to believe that if someone uses their faith to make a policy decision they are somehow forcing their beliefs.

Some of the worst things they say are quotes from LDS prophets and apostles. Current leaders turn a blind eye. They will call out a former BYU student for saying *everyone* is loved, important, and not broken, but not the deznats and their hate.

The musket fire talk was the last straw for me. On a related note, here’s why I don’t trust that Patrick Kearon is any different. I know another leader in the UK who seemed compassionate and kind. He often spoke about his 5 gay siblings in a way that sounded empathetic 🧵

One of the best things about leaving @Ch_JesusChrist: I don’t have to be careful about showing too much love and empathy. It’s too often the church that “has been unkind, in many instances crushingly cruel.” Sacrilege to use that pretty scene on an ugly musket fire quote.
