Finally got my Election Recap posted! The summary? Voters hate book banners. It’s an established pattern, even in red states like Texas. Read the details of how pro-censorship school board candidates took another drubbing in the Lone Star State: franklinstrong.substack.com/p/election-rec…

NEW: UT is 1/9 colleges offered federal $ in exchange for protecting conservative voices, capping international enrollment. A key response deadline has passed, and UT is refusing to say whether it will agree to the deal. From @lilykepner: statesman.com/news/education… #txed #txlege

🚨We’ve proud to join @tx_ilc and partners in filing an amicus brief before the Fifth Circuit to protect the Texas Dream Act. For nearly 25 years, it’s helped Texas students access higher education and strengthen our state. #txlege idra.news/DreamActAmicus…

🚨TODAY! The Senate Education Committee will hear #SB1798, a bill that would repeal the Texas Dream Act, a 2001 law that allows tuition rate equity for all eligible students graduating from Texas high schools, regardless of their immigration status. 🧵

In the next 5 years, the TX voucher bill will cost upwards of $10B of public funds, despite research that vouchers don't help students, have no public accountability & no protections for students' safety or against discrimination. #SB2 #txed
IDRA@IDRAedu

Today, the TX House approved a multi-billion dollar, discriminatory voucher scam, SB 2. Certain lawmakers are keen on doing the Texas three-step: defunding, demonizing, & privatizing our public schools. We will never stop working to strengthen public schools for all students.

“It makes perfect sense for Gov. Greg Abbott to be on hand for the dismantling of the Department of Education. It was the only governmental entity holding his administration accountable for guaranteeing parents’ and students’ rights to a free and fair education.”—Zeph Capo

Native Americans are erased from the curriculum in too many schools in the US. Many states ignore Indigenous people in their K-12 curriculums—making it impossible to truthfully understand US history by not identifying the source of the land and wealth: Natives who are still here!

Who would choose an education policy that failed in other states? TX parents have the right to know this is an expensive, failed policy that will almost entirely benefit wealthy parents already sending their kids to private schools. @GinaForAustin @jamestalarico @RoyceWestTX @MomsAGAbbott @TexasAFT @UnionmanTX @dsknight84 @joshcowenMSU @RYHTexas @DisRightsTx @txstateteachers @tasanet @tepsamark #txlege

Yesterday, Trump signed more executive orders on Inauguration Day than any President in history. Every day this week, I'll be breaking down Trump's attacks on your rights and freedoms. First up: immigration rights and birthright citizenship. (1/11)
