@mrmahuedu@BarnellNicole@Ststansberry That’s awesome! Boosting a student’s confidence in their work and recognizing their intellect is definitely key to forming a successful relationship.
@BarnellNicole A1) A great way to build relationships with students is by showcasing the great work that they do with their classmates. As a math teacher, using Desmos, I can display when a student nails a concept that we're working on, and display their great work to the class

Good evening! Here is the first question in the CSUB EDTE4200 Spring 2024 Slow Chat. Make sure you include A1) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED, #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@StephanieA69042@BarnellNicole@Duncannedd A Google form would definitely help achieve this! Students won’t be able to see who turns in the form and they can access it with a link anywhere!
@BarnellNicole You can use technology to enhance relationships by creating a safe space for students to voice concerns that they might be too shy to share with you in person.#CSUBTED#csubedte4200@Duncannedd
@lawsonp2024@doctor2pi@Duncannedd I have never heard of Joy School but it sounds like an awesome program. Are some schools implementing it or did you find it on your own?
@doctor2pi A2) Hello, the one program that students can benefit English Language Learners is Joy School. The program helps students develop language & literacy along with identifying other domains.

@DayanaRam25@doctor2pi I have also used Duolingo to help me with another language. The app is really great with pronunciation but some money needs to be used in order to utilize it to its fullest unfortunately.
@doctor2pi A2) An app that actually used when I was learning English was duolingo and google translate to help me either spelling and pronunciation of certain words and sentences. #EDTE4200#CSUBTED@doctor2pi
@laurenottee@tom_karnes@Duncannedd Providing students with chromebooks is a really great solution, but we also need to make sure they are able to access wifi at home. On the go hotspots could be a possible solution or additive.
@tom_karnes A3) Tech is limited due to the fact that not every student has a computer at home. This problem can be combatted by adding more computers to public libraries or having schools provide the needed tech to students.

Happy Leap Day!
Here's the next question. Make sure you include A3) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED , #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@SummerAlex44045@tom_karnes@doctor2pi Providing students and parents with information about these community centers will definitely help! I didn’t even know that the library provides free access to tech.
@tom_karnes A3) We can make tech more accessible to all members of the community by supporting and promoting community centers and libraries because they usually provide access to tech for free. Not being near a place that offers free computer use can limiting. #csubted#edte4200@doctor2pi
@Jennnngutierrez@Ststansberry@doctor2pi@Duncannedd@BarnellNicole@tom_karnes Playing math games with students can also help them form a better relationship with math! Students will be able to experience that math doesn’t always have to be boring or hard and can actually lead to a lot of fun when they understand the concepts.
@tom_karnes A3) One way we can make technology more accessible is by giving out chromebooks to families who don't already have one, and by providing wifi to them so students are able to complete any work they may have after the school day is over. #csubted#csubedte4200@doctor2pi
@doctor2pi A2) One app that could potentially benefit ELLs is Starfall. I have seen kinders utilizing Starfall to learn their letters, sounds, and songs. However, there are also other helpful tools for different grade levels on the site. #csubted#csubedte4200@doctor2pi
@BarnellNicole A1) One way you can use technology to build and enhance relationships with students is using Google slides. Each student can create an "All About Me" slide that they can present to their class as an ice-breaker at the beginning of the year. #csubted#csubedte4200@doctor2pi
