So far EDTE 4200 has been a pretty simple but very enlightening class. I used to consider myself pretty tech savy but apparently I'm not I've learned a lot :) #csubedte4200#csubted
@mslopez99@tom_karnes@doctor2pi Hi Briana! Yes unfortunately internet access is not available to everyone but I have seen may companies that offer free or very low cost Wi-Fi for low income individuals. Schools should fin and promote these resources.
@tom_karnes@doctor2pi A3) A way to make technology accessible in the community would be to make sure students have access to their work from home for example a Chromebook. A major issue with this would be if they did not have internet access at their home. #CSUBEDTE4200#CSUBTED@doctor2pi
Happy Leap Day!
Here's the next question. Make sure you include A3) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED , #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@cris2x_@tom_karnes@doctor2pi Hi Cris! Yes when it comes down to it funding is ultimately the main issue when it comes to technology access. Maybe libraries can seek out grants or loans from certain organizations.
@tom_karnes@doctor2pi A3) We can make technology more accessible to our community by adding more computers to pubic libraries and schools. However, this can be a challenge if there isn’t enough funds to buy new technology. #EDTE4200#CSUBTED@doctor2pi
@tom_karnes A3) We can make tech more accessible to all members of the community by supporting and promoting community centers and libraries because they usually provide access to tech for free. Not being near a place that offers free computer use can limiting. #csubted#edte4200@doctor2pi
@LauraFount86072@doctor2pi@Duncannedd Hi Laura! I agree Duolingo can be a fun way for ELLs to learn English. Duolingo adds a gaming competitive component to learning languages that can make the process less daunting.
@doctor2pi A2) I think Duolingo would be beneficial for ELL so they can play a game to help them learn English. Duolingo provides interactive lessons which put the learner at the center of their own learning #CSUBTED#CSUBEDTE4200@Duncannedd
@Emily_L4200@doctor2pi@Duncannedd Hi Emily! Great suggestions! Grammarly can really be helpful because not only is learning to speak a new language difficult understanding the grammar and punctuation can be just as much as a challenge.
@doctor2pi A2) I think programs like Google Translate can be a great tool for English Language Learners. ELLs can use it to look up how to say and spell certain words in English. They can also you the audio option to hear the proper pronunciation. #csubted#edte4200@doctor2pi
@MagdalenaBQG@BarnellNicole@doctor2pi Hi Magdalena! Absolutely Gmail is a great tool for communication and its easily accessible pretty much on any device.
@BarnellNicole@doctor2pi A1) Technology can be used to build and enhance relationships with my students in the classroom in many ways. One way technology can enhance a relationship is by using email to communicate with students and parents in a timely manner. #CSUBTEd#EDTE4200@doctor2pi
Good evening! Here is the first question in the CSUB EDTE4200 Spring 2024 Slow Chat. Make sure you include A1) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED, #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@dobbyysock@BarnellNicole@doctor2pi Hi Madison! I agree ClassDojo is super help for communication for everyone involved. It really gives parents the opportunity to track their child's progress.
@BarnellNicole@doctor2pi A1) Technology can be used in the classroom to establish communication between teacher/students/parents in certain applications like ClassDojo. Interactive learning games that reinforce reading and math can help students stay ready and engaged. #CSUBTED#csubedte4200@doctor2pi
@BarnellNicole A1). One of the ways tech can be useful is by fostering relationships between students. Google chat is an instant messaging tool that can be used for communication between students. They can help each other out. Students can even be put into groups. #csubted#edte4200@doctor2pi
