Mi viejo me financió exactamente 5 años de Ingeniería. El año 6 me dijo “ahora arreglate”. Conseguí laburo, me pagué el último año de carrera, después la maestría y nunca más dependí económicamente de nadie. Cada vez entiendo más el valor de poner fecha de vencimiento a la comodidad.

CARTA DE UN EGRESADO Soy ingeniero industrial, egresado de la UN Cuyo. Me recibí en tiempo y forma, termine en Francia por intercambio, fui profesor en la cátedra de Proyectos, ad honorem, fue consejo por parte de los egresados, le tengo muchísimo cariño y agradecimiento a la universidad pública argentina. Justamente por eso digo esto: auditen las universidades nacionales YA. Y además, reestructúrenlas profundamente. Porque una cosa es defender la educación pública y otra muy distinta es defender estructuras ineficientes, corporativas e intocables. La universidad pública no es gratis. No lo fue nunca. La paga toda la sociedad. También la paga el kiosquero, el obrero, la gente del Flores o cualquier trabajador que jamás pisará una facultad. Y es profundamente injusto que muchas veces terminen financiando carreras de sectores medios y altos que perfectamente podrían pagar parte de su formación. La "universidad de los trabajadores" es una rareza estadística. Los pobres van a la privada. Quien no pueda pagar, debe existir un sistema fuerte de becas. Pero sostener el esquema actual como dogma moral es una discusión infantil. Peguntas incómodas que nadie quiere hacerse: ¿Por qué tenemos de los peores ratios ingreso/egreso de latam? ¿Por qué seguimos sosteniendo carreras enteras sin ninguna discusión seria sobre demanda real, inserción laboral o automatización? ¿Cuántos egresados tiene un profesorado de francés en la UNCuyo?¿No sería más barato mandar directamente a esos alumnos a estudiar a Francia? ¿Cuál es el futuro real de un traductorado en tiempos de Claude, IA generativa y traducción automática casi instantánea? La universidad no puede ser el único lugar del planeta donde esté prohibido hablar de reemplazo tecnológico, automatización o eficiencia. Todo el resto de la sociedad vive esos cambios. El sector privado los vive. Los trabajadores los viven. Las empresas los viven. ¿La universidad no? Y otra casualidad curiosa: las grandes marchas universitarias siempre aparecen cuando gobierna alguien que no es peronista. Síndrome de Estocolmo, supongo. Auditoría. Transparencia. Reestructuración. Eficiencia. Inserción laboral real. Eso también es defender la universidad pública.
