Robotics is experiencing the same "yet another framework, but lightweight" cycle that we have seen in JS frameworks docs.peppy.bot

@facontidavide IMHO rviz was the trojan horse that got ROS into so many places that back then wanted an alternative to LabVIEW. And now we have PlotJuggler, Foxglove, etc. and so many excellent tools, but the journey to get here has been long and hard.

@esteve EXACTLY. And that is extremely valuable! And tooling...

@facontidavide It's now sort of taken for granted that a robotics framework will be opensource, but back then it was unheard of, every robotics lab had their own framework and that knowledge couldn't transferred anywhere

@facontidavide There's still a lot of room for improvement for ROS, we all know that, but one thing we've done quite well is fostering a community around it. 20+ years of community building are difficult to replace

@AskCurve The issue (not being able to add the card to Google Pay or Garmin Pay), is still there. Being able to pay with my phone and watch is one of the reasons why I used Curve, if I can no longer do that, I'll downgrade my membership

@jens_siebert @rustlang @JoeSpeeds We're working on adding support for Rust to ROS2 over at github.com/ros2-rust/ros2… There's still a bunch of features missing, but our goal is for Rust to be on par with bindings for other languages like Python and C++
