10 years ago we were newlyweds in antarctica, no kids, just our cameras and too many layers, when a @NatGeo photographer told me something I never forgot. after laying her egg, a mother penguin leaves. she crosses miles of ice, dives into freezing ocean, and hunts for weeks just so her chick will have something to eat the moment it’s born. then she comes back. to a colony of thousands of hatched penguins that all look the same and all sound the same. and she finds her baby anyway. because her chick cries out, and out of thousands of voices, she knows the one that’s hers. i remember thinking, that’s incredible. i didn’t understand it yet. motherhood is hearing the cry no one else can hear. it’s swimming through water you’re not sure you’ll come out of… and swimming anyway. it’s finding your way back in the dark, not because someone marked the path, but because something inside you *just knows.* 10 years ago I watched a penguin mother do something I couldn’t comprehend. now I do it every day. so do you. you’re the voice they reach for before they even open their eyes. happy mother’s day to every mom still swimming. 🤍

that app is called @BeMyEyes and my first inbound "eyes" request came from a blind women who was cooking and simply needed to know in the moment if she had grabbed the correct spice for the recipe. you have rapidly to pick up on the very first "ring" or the request will instantly go to another person with the app downloaded. the entire call lasted less than 15 seconds and it is one of the last beautiful app use cases that AI won't eat anytime soon

Back in 2021, I met a lady who told me about this app where blind people could video call volunteers whenever they needed help with something. Out of curiosity, I downloaded it and signed up. I still remember how surreal it felt the first time I got a call. Someone was simply trying to decide what to wear and needed me to tell them if the colors matched. Another person needed help checking something on their TV screen. And there I was, in my room in Nigeria, helping complete strangers from different parts of the world through a random video call. It wasn’t paid or anything. It was just volunteering. But I remember being so fascinated by the idea that technology could connect people in such a deeply human way. For a few minutes, you literally became someone else’s eyes. Till today, that remains one of the most beautiful things I’ve experienced online.

Really proud of this one. @phantom recently received the first-ever CFTC no-action letter for a self-custodial platform, meaning we could keep building products that give people real control over their money without getting tangled in broker registration. Yesterday at Consensus, @ChairmanSelig said they intend to turn that letter into permanent rules for the whole industry. That means more teams can build, more competition, and ultimately better products for the people who use them. Crypto wins when the when the whole ecosystem levels up. That is how we bring self-custody and onchain finance to everyone.

regulatory language that seems boring in a legal filing can quietly take something real away from real people... in this case, your ability to earn yield on your own stablecoins when you put them to work in defi. the OCC's proposed rule went further than what Congress actually passed, and if nobody pushes back, that gap just becomes policy. so @phantom's asking the question. for you.
