I've updated my Padres payroll Google Sheet for 2026. You can make a copy to add players and change the option decisions at the top to see how it impacts future payroll/tax. I've also added lineup tabs, you can select starters vs R/L and it will very roughly optimize.

@TooMuchMortons_ The Laureano placement was interesting yesterday, don’t agree w /him hitting 9th but I’d love to see Stammen hit Fermin 8th and let a better OBP guy take the 9 spot. It’s tough with the politics to do it, but I’d honestly love Bogaerts there. If not, then Andujar/Castellanos.

Bowen in CF with Johnson in RF is interesting, if they like Bowen’s glove more he might have the inside track to the 4th OF job. I’d still go Johnson since they should be able to keep Bowen in AAA

@HR34_ @JespersBurner Misread your post, but still had a .373 xwOBA prior to 2025. His playoff struggles are far overblown. There’s a reason we don’t treat playoff performance like gospel in baseball

@HR34_ @JespersBurner He had the second highest xwOBA in the playoffs of anyone with 10+ PA, what are you talking about? If you want to overreact to results over a small sample rather than looking at the process or larger samples, you’re going to draw stupid conclusions.

@PrellersBurner I think Miranda can stick in AAA while France might get picked up as well. Either way, probably a short-term roster stint until Song is healthy to provide cover across the IF.

@PrellersBurner Ya, just included Castellanos with them since they’re all RHH 1B options. I don’t think Miranda would play OF, BJ+Sheets would be ahead of him for reps. I’d go France since the glove provides some stability, we need an emergency 2B, and he’s hit better than Miranda in MLB.
