One of the biggest problems in American industry is our managerial class, which has been eroded since the 1980s. Managers used to have to work their way up through a system, show that they actually fully understand a business or industry - now they substitute degrees for that. It seems to me since the '80s we overflow with a managerial class, perhaps because of the growth of MBAs.....but yet NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO RUN ANYTHING. This includes our politics. Look at our politicians - how many actually know how to RUN something? Not just get elected to office, but know how to build, maintain, repair, grow a business with all its attendant problems? They really don't. We hire politicians based on their appearance, blarney and how much money they've spent from "donors". None of them really "know" how to do anything but be bullshit factories that run through tons of money. Their idea of management is to win over or placate voters by spending more and more money with no real goals, metrics or oversight - and this also creates much of the corruption we see because.....there is NO oversight. No one seems to apply real metrics of performance. We can say Donald Trump has done a terrible job....but so did Biden. So would Clinton have done. Harris would have done a terrible job. Bush did a terrible job. Most of these people HAVE done terrible jobs or we wouldn't be in this position today (which is an accumulation over decades) because.....they never actually ran anything and don't know how to manage businesses or...much of anything. They know how to posture and make commercials, have conferences, talk endlessly about whatever problems they've defined (As Shakespeare noted: "Talkers is no good doers.") take money, and give it away. We have a whole class of professional managers who got MBAs or PhDs, or have relatives or someone they slept with, or they bought someone off and THAT is how they became managers and they DON'T KNOW HOW TO RUN ANYTHING OR PROVIDE AN ACCOUNTING - and that's the major reason why we're in this state today. It's a problem we have to acknowledge especially as we consider candidates for elections - none of them may actually be able to DO anything. We have to be aware of this when we set expectations and vote.

This is so dumb. The variable that’s changing year-over-year is NOT the ball. It’s the faster swing speeds. This is just going to incentivize them to swing faster. There are a half dozen things they could do to make distance less of a factor. This does the opposite. Absolutely senseless. It’s embarrassing how much of the game is governed by the most mediocre minds.

Are you ready to lose some driver distance? In 2030 you will be. If you hit driver 220 yards you will lose 4.5 yards. An elite pro like Rory will lose 12 yards. This ball rollback is a start, but imo not nearly enough. Rory going from 325 to 315 won’t change almost anything. Which means another rollback or tech change will have to come.
