The Masters’ merchandising / design team truly missed the mark this year. I’m not entirely sure who their target audience is for these designs, but it’s likely not BV or the ultra wealthy.

As the ANWA leaders made the turn, a large and long stream of people heading to the exit. A reminder there are golf patrons and there are shoppers.

For those who have attended The Masters, what is the best concession stand item?

@apropergolf @flushingitgolf I’m in the Atlanta area, and plenty of courses have gone through various renovations. I can assure you none of the changes were a result of amateurs hitting the ball too far.

@apropergolf @flushingitgolf This is a horrible take. You flat out cannot use Tour players as the measuring stick. Their talent is on such a different level than even the top amateur players. No am has ever said they hit the ball too far. Courses will be just fine.

Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey and Anirban Lahiri have a very interesting opinion on golf club technology and the rollback. Bryson believes that drivers haven’t changed much since 2009 and the improvements are more to do with athletic ability. Paul Casey agreed with that and said there isn’t enough credit given to the athlete. And Anirban Lahiri said that golf course design has played a big factor. Bryson then followed up by questioning what the governing bodies are actually trying to achieve with a roll back and laid out what his goals are for the game. I found this 3 minute clip fascinating and it’s definitely worth a watch to understand the thoughts of the elite pros when it comes to this issue.

Kinsale Golf Club Naples, FL Gil Hanse - 2025 Private Do the principles of Scottish links golf still work if applied to a flat piece of land in Florida? The answer is YES! Gil Hanse and Jim Wager were given the ultimate challenge at Kinsale. Take a small, flat piece of land with basically no redeeming qualities in the middle of Naples and make a course members will want to play forever. Somehow they met the challenge. Kinsale is wild fun. The first thing you know is it eschews the modern idea of width, width, width. While it’s not unfair, you have to drive it well here. Some of the narrower fairways I’ve seen on a modern course. It’s a “template” course, but it’s more just in principle. You wouldn’t immediately identify most of the templates, they are unique and subtle. The turf is firm and fast…a must if wanting to give respect to the ideas of links golf. Your angles matters, especially in the short game. You better know how to chip off of tight Bermuda, it’s not easy. It’s meant for fun and works great for match play. So many half par holes, including a par 3 that was a driver into the wind, but also drivable par 4’s and gettable par 5’s. Amazing hole variety. Kinsale is simply awesome and there is nothing else like it in Florida. A course you’d want to play over and over and you could find so many ways to play the golf holes.
