@TennesseAussie @___TheGOOdWitch He didn't need to sacrifice anything because the ruleset he was "saving" us from was his own ruleset. He could just change the ruleset, as his sacrifice supposedly did, but without the pointless sacrifice.

Jesus’ self sacrifice was an open demonstration of genuine love (ie. true love is sacrificial) hence a ”demonstration of the righteousness of God” (Rom 3:25-26). We are all invited to participate in a life built upon that standard (ie. 1Joh 4:16) by which we find true union with our Creator (1Joh 4:17, Joh 17:21-23). Of course you can remain ignorant of that and fall victim to a stupid strawman meme instead.

@LizzieMarbach With all the times god talks to himself or about himself in the 3rd person it's not clear at all in fact it points more towards there being multiple gods or Jesus not being THE god at all.

@Captain__Ex @athiestboi It doesn't say they won't taste death, just until he comes back. If there is no death then why say it this way. Your interpretation removes the point of the sentence: to give a time when he'd come back. If you're all immortal there is no time limit.

Scientific knowledge is standing on nothing without God

@MartinTweats Science doesn't rely on faith, it relies on evidence. We learn rules work over time and figure out the rules without presupposing anything not learned.

Science cannot prove that God does or doesn't exist, as science can only prove the physical a posteriori. But God is a metaphysical question proven a priori. To claim that science proves God either way is to make a category error, as science cannot prove metaphysics. Science cannot even prove that logic, math and modal truth exist, yet science presupposes that they exist in order to prove science, i.e., science takes the existence of those things on faith alone. Therefore, science is predicated on faith.

@Itwasmerofl @aquavitae96 The more of the truth you understand the better you survive. Believing falsehoods doesn't increase survival. Being able to lie can help one survive. Believing that lie does not. Conforming to a lie might also help one survive. Still believing that lie doesn't.
