Hellish night in Kyiv. Didn’t know if I’d wake up. When there’s nothing on the battlefield, Russia wages war on market stalls and apartment blocks, murdering people in their sleep.

Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv and nearby towns early Sunday, with explosions shaking buildings for hours and multiple fires breaking out. The barrage included a rare intermediate-range Oreshnik missile. At least four people were killed and nearly 100 injured across Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials. “The attack was severe,” Ukrainian President Zelensky said. “The most hits were in Kyiv, and Kyiv was the main target of this Russian attack.” “He’s truly insane,” Zelenskyy said of Vladimir Putin. “It’s important that this doesn’t go unpunished for Russia. Today, everyone in the world who doesn’t stay silent and who helps Ukraine is a defender of life.”

Canada strongly condemns Russia’s launch of large-scale missile and drone attacks on civilian targets in Kyiv tonight. For more than four years since Russia’s illegal invasion, it has greatly underestimated the courage, determination, and strength of the Ukrainian people — even as Putin’s regime has relentlessly bombed Ukrainian energy infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and homes. We call on Russia to immediately cease these strikes and end this illegal war of aggression. They prolong human suffering and do nothing to change the fact that Russia will lose this war. Canada will continue working closely with international partners to secure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and Europe.

Just on Friday, Russia, acting as an impostor permanent member, abused the UN Security Council to stage a grotesque circus in Starobilsk. And already this very night, Putin launched the most barbaric missile strike on civilians in Kyiv. May Russia burn in hell eternally🤬🔥🔥🔥

Special operations units are systematically dismantling the enemy’s logistics infrastructure 100–150 km behind the front lines. Fuel shortages are already being reported in occupied Crimea and in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

It was a horrible night in Kyiv. But if Putin thinks he can terrorize Ukrainians into submission, he is mistaken.
