This is going to be a very long read, I hope I don’t bore you with it. My body forget to go into labor, 42weeks and no sign of labor. My tummy was very big and all my internal organs were almost pushing out of my mouth. I registered anti natal at a primary health center in Udu, Delta state. I went to the hospital two weeks after my EDD and the health center was closed due to strike of medical personnels. Confused, I called my matron as I had her phone number, she encouraged me to switch to a private hospital, one victory hospital located at Airport road. I went to the hospital in company of my mum, mother in law and my husband. Got there and was told I will be induced. After all paper work done, the induction process started. First a drug was inserted then an injection was given. Immediately that injection entered, I heard a bell in my head. The pain was so intense and I felt it go down to my waist. That was all that happened, pain stopped like nothing was even administered. I was admitted and drip was fixed, still no pain. After the drip finished, I was asked to move around to induce labor but it didn’t work and by the time the doctor resumed in the morning, he was surprised to see me eating a big bowl of rice. Scan was done and everything was certified ok, I was discharged and told to report after one week for a cesarean section if labor did not come. My mum was worried and decided to take me to a matron who uses both traditional and modern medicine. She checked me, carried a white basin with water in it, added sand and squeezed a plant I do not know inside and washed my tummy with it. Water broke immediately accompanied by severe pain. Then the injections began, i guess they were meant to fasten labor because each time she injected me, the pain increased 10 folds. I got there by 12:30pm and finally put to bed by 08:30pm. Baby weighed 4.0kg. I thought it was over until the stitching started, no anesthesia, just needle and thread meeting skin. It’s finally over or so I thought. Bleeding said “hello”. Nobody noticed until the body pain became unbearable. I was aching all over and I called the nurse on duty to remove me from the delivery bed because I could feel something was wrong. Immediately I was helped up, blood flowed out and that was the last thing I remembered. I woke up in the female ward and each time I tried to sit up, I loose consciousness again. Four days later, I was discharged and ten my legs stopped functioning but that is a story for another day. Can’t believe you read to this point🥹
