@Kaju_Nut What is the reasoning for Planck length being the limit till where our physics works? I have seen this argument many times but didn't find any proper reasoning.

We don't expect our picture of space/time to hold below Planck length. Maybe space and time are emergent. Maybe there is a discrete structure even, like in causal sets. But whatever it is, it has to get around special relativity. That has not been so easy! n/n

But we haven't seen any violations. The lesson here is that measurements being discrete does not imply space/time is not continuous. Relativity shows that's a bad argument. So are they continuous? We don't know because we don't know quantum gravity

What the heck is this doubly special relativity? Does anyone have any idea?

@xiNietzsche I feel in a similar way. I don't have any affection towards math. My only goal was to understand physics in detail and depth (which basically lead me to learn lot of new math). Now I see all the people I want to work with are in math dept and it scares the shit out of me😭

I watched the movie Perfect Days(2023) recently and idk how to explain but the tracks of this movie make me feel really calm. On top of that I listened to the tracks while playing Alto's Odyssey and it has been my favourite digital experience so far😌.

How long do you think prime Planck could hold a plank? My guess is 1 min.

I need more examples of people in academia who haven't had a linear path at all and missed years on the way to PhD and still did their PhD. I don't wanna feel all isolated here 🫩

@eviciium Totally reasonable question! Some answers: 1. Flex 2. It's a way to measure gas pressures at levels that are currently so low that existing sensors just measure 0 (arxiv.org/abs/2303.09922) 3. Characterizing backgrounds for fundamental physics measurements we want to do

2024: proposal to make a gas pressure measurement by literally counting every collision with a sensor 2026: measurement. Could not be happier to see this work exactly like we drew it up arxiv.org/abs/2604.18371
