One of the key takeaways from the internship is how important continual monitoring of a restoration site really is! In about a year, a site can be completely overgrown with an invasive species such as the #Himalayanblackberry. #ENVIR491

Another main takeaway I have had from the internship experience is that I want to continue volunteering with my host organization after the internship is over #ENVIR491

Another takeaway from my internship is that pet stools, used cooking oil, and automotive liquids are the most common pollutant that is dumped or ends up in storm drains that decrease water quality. #ENVIR491

A key takeaway from my internship is that marine conservation is very difficult due to high uncertainty in their habitat and population dynamics. We still have no clue how and where black abalone larvae settle (invisible to the naked eye) and is a major information gap #ENVIR491

This week, the Campus Sustainability Fund traveled to the Washington Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference in Corvallis! We led a workshop and a poster session, and learned a lot from engaging with interesting presentations and discussions! #ENVIR491

Attended my first Taekwondo competition this Saturday. The kids were showcasing their patterns in front of a panel of judges. Then I went and relaxed by the pool of course 😊 (our kids did pretty good btw! lots of medals given all around) #ENVIR491 #taekwondo

Learned how to make a new leek recipe, with a free leek I got from my time at the Capital Hill Farmers Market. #491

Language barriers and citizenship status are barring so many farmers from growing and expanding and gaining the necessary funding they need. #ENVIR491

Some key takeaways I have gained from my time here is that BIPOC farmers have routinely been disenfranchised and emptied on their journey of survival. Grants, Loans, and land is often barred from their use, which creates generational issues.
