Matias built Paraverse – a ray-traced simulator that enables our full autonomy stack to run with simulated images using our actual, highly non-linear camera models in real time. Engineers use this to test new algorithms the moment they're written, our sales team uses it to fly with customers anywhere in the world, and customers train and maintain proficiency in a full digital replica of their own Skydio environment. It exists because Matias saw a problem, imagined a better solution, and made it happen. Every good thing we’ve ever done at @SkydioHQ is downstream from an amazing person who did exactly this, and it happens all the time. We're hiring. (link in 🧵)

Find old school flashlight/radio combo at a thrift store for the 4 y/o > declare I will modernize it with LEDs over a weekend > end up designing and outsourcing my first PCB for it instead. Turned out well enough and the toddler approves. He was (mostly) very patient.

@ericmigi It's been my go-to air cure adhesive for years. One part, cures fast, good temp resistance, good elasticity after cure. It's great for sealing but also for joining dissimilar materials because it flexes a bit. Downsides are fast expiration and hard to source in low qty.

last min before CNY trip @Pebble trip - it's super cold in Jiangxi province! also they don't like heating indoors during the winter? So we had to wear winter jackets for dinner. away from big coastal cities things are more old school. Restaurant owner comes by to offer cigarettes :)

okay so far I have cut outs for the camera roughly, along with a screen cutout. how would you continue the manifold? just create a new cuboid that matches the sizing/location then round the edges?

My older sons (10 & 8) each ate 3 bowls of spaghetti with meatballs tonight, followed by a shared bowl of popcorn, followed by a plate each of our family speciality dish (Triscuits with melted cheese.) Absolutely terrified to find out what this will be like when they’re teens.

I've been inside an LCD fab. It's a flawless ballet: exquisite machines and robots transforming huge sheets of glass into intricate light-modulating electronics. Like the pyramids of Egypt—built by legions through years of labor—these are the culmination of decades of work by hundreds of thousands. Yet one such marvel is worth so little, that it can be shattered in a fit of rage.

you can just make a drone in threejs and have it fly around map imagery and put a camera on the drone and pipe its feed to a python vision model inference server for detections

@shinjipons @Logitech @formlabs Yes, hard to avoid with post curing but I imagine the part shrank some (I didn't measure). Bigger challenge was screw bosses breaking when trying to reassemble.

Clear enclosures are the best. I printed one (found the design on Makerworld) for my @Logitech MX3 on a @formlabs Form 4. Their version of Clear for the Form 4 is fantastic - doesn't yellow after post-curing like it used to.
