@solventspurs Thank god we bought him so he could pick up a 5 month injury and then go rot on the bench in Germany. Cheers! That'll help him progress nicely

@sorinetheturtle I absolutely agree that Poch, Nuno, Conte, Jose, Postecoglou, Tudor, Mason were not the problem. But somehow amongst the worst owners in the world Thomas Frank was 1000000% the problem. Worst manager of all time

Bayern vs PSG April 28 2026 PSG brilliant finishing, in real life it certainly is more than 1% chance they get 5+ goals. Team colors are a bit counterintuitive, oops

Tottenham vs. Aston Villa May 3 2026. Let me know any ideas for interesting visualizations or metrics. When I have time I'll look into what a win probability should look like when you account for teams sitting back, creating fewer chances after scoring an early 'lucky' goal.

@UtdDrivel @paritosh_bhide Maybe I’m giving him too much credit but it’s something I’ve thought about a fair amount, I think xG should come packaged with another metric that represents deviation in an intuitive way. Might have fewer clueless people on my timeline saying this kind of stuff

@exact_thfc @paritosh_bhide I think you're being extremely generous with your assumption expected goals IS an additive metric - probabilistic expectation is additive, linearity of expectation exists, OP is straight up wrong

@UtdDrivel @paritosh_bhide I'm assuming he means the standard deviation should be analyzed more often? In that taking a lot of low xG shots has a bigger variance in expected results vs fewer high xG shots. Could reduce mistrust in xG if you see an 'xG randomness/confidence/variance' stat along with xG.

@paritosh_bhide but... yes you do? the expected value of a binomial distribution is number of attempts multiplied by probability of success of each attempt

@paritosh_bhide ...yes you do. It's an expected value. Of course it's going to have a normal distribution around it. If you're proposing to add standard deviation to analysis as well i.e. std(100 0.01 xG shots) >> std(2 0.5 xG shots) then that makes sense.

@Ronhotspur @thfcjevo I know stats aren't everything, but to give you some idea - Romero has 5 games rated higher by sofascore in 2026 than any game in Gray's club CAREER. Not just at Spurs, at Leeds in the championship as well. The red card is the only reason he's not indisputably POTS

@hlpresss Palhinha I was always pretty sure would be alright in the right midfield setup, Bentancur was obviously Frank tax. Gallagher under RDZ is the one I was really wrong on, turns out him looking like a complete idiot was actually at least 50% down to the lack of a real system

Are you guys ready to admit you were *slightly* wrong about Palhinha…? I’m the same with Bentancur. FrankBall tax is crazy… He’s unleashed Gallagher and combined his Palace attacking traits with the Chelsea pressing. A decent backup #10 all of a sudden

People talk about how Spurs missed out on buying Dybala or Kvaratskhelia but for me Bruno Fernandes will always be our biggest fumble

@JoeYids I think a lot of people (myself included) got too emotional when he looked like the only player who wanted to be on the pitch for a few games. But sadly he’s never been good enough yet

@SpursrEndgame @NicJ_27 Not sure you understand how massive the champions league money is... imagine our team without xavi, rkm, kudus, palhinha, gallagher. Probably have a couple more kids like odobert, bergvall, gray, etc. instead. We'd be dead bottom of the league...

@NicJ_27 The biggest mistake Spurs did was not sacking Ange Postecoglou after the Tamworth game other wise we would not have been inthe mess we find ourselves in

@Nihit_Sharma_IN @MusialaEra Funny thing is to find this stat you have to scroll past xA where olise has more (also the most)

The two best are objectively Olise and Yamal. It all comes down to preference with them. Then a tier below there‘s the likes of Kvara, Diaz and so on which doesn‘t mean they aren‘t world class, I‘d just put Olise and Yamal in the alien bracket.

@TwentyMarss @DejiCNO Olise loses the ball much more whilst getting similar output (pre-hammy injury). Olise better shooter though + his game looks more pleasing on the eye compared to Saka

@chrislh90_ @DougieCritchley Any defense in history getting run at for an entire game by the two best front 3s in the world would end up looking bad. I don’t judge either defense too harshly, neuer was the most disappointing for me

@DougieCritchley Question are both attacks just that good or are both defences that bad? Hate to say it but I wouldn’t see Arsenal conceding 3 in one half to either of these two

People have just watched 9 goals in a UCL semi final 1st leg and are coming to twitter to mention the quality of defending If you’re somewhat mentioning the word defending after a night like that I question why you watch this sport in the first place😂
