It seems that I'm doing a satisfactory job of imitating Josie, but sense of worry has crept into my mind. Why is The Mother doing this? What is the extent of Josie's condition? I hope I am not expected to do this often. I feel as though I am betraying Josie somehow.
@wilsoem534 Humans are so confusing. Emotional reactions rarely follow logic, making it really hard for Klara to understand and learn appropriate responses.
#f2irpi7
I'm finally going to Morgan's Falls today!!! Josie says she wants me to go, even though she can't. Though, it seems as if she means the opposite. I thought I was finally understanding all of the emotions she and Mother have. I suppose not.
@vickierpi And if you treat them badly, once it gets to the point where they realize they don't need you anymore, they have no reason to keep you around. Since you've treated them badly now they'll *want* to kill you.

A1:
People: scared that future robots will take over the world when they were only invented to be obedient and do free manual labor
The same people: won’t pay minimum wage to workers, treats blue collared workers less than themselves
@nowakvfiction@cccjayrpi Crazy how trying to make humans without human emotions led to negative consequences. It's almost like knowledge without adequate emotional sensibility to make judgements is a bad idea.
#f2irpi6 when you were created by someone playing god by gaining too much knowledge and now you're also trying to play god by gaining too much knowledge.
@durham_tobin If we gender things as female, they feel like less of a threat. Total crap, because you're right, it doesn't actually change anything. A rose by any other name will smell as sweet and all that.
#f21rpi5
boats, cars, nations, and earth - things we control that are also referred to as women.
an untamed robot?
call it women-make it controlled.
But it's all the same right? it doesn't change anything
@a1an_1ee1 Right? Like can they really not admit that women can think? It's not like JN-5 was doing magic, she would have had very complex algorithms. But because she was a female robot, it's just "intuition" and the answer just mysteriously pops into her head.
#f21rpi5 A1: Imagine genuinely feeling superior to someone based on gender because you can't admit that they have equal ability. Like oh, a women found an answer to a problem? Ha, it's that darn magical feminine intuition. Because women's brains don't actually think. Obviously.
@excelsior373@Rhodesch435 Wait a minute, but when did it go wrong? For the people that benefited from it, I mean. As far as we know the men of Stepford, Peter, and Wendy never have any consequences. They just kill people forever. So technically if you're on the inside it's all good right?
@RathnamR1219@cccjayrpi yeah, instead of the house existing to fulfill your needs as a person, you now exist to fulfill it's need to do things as a robot.
@cccjayrpi#f2irpi4 When you just bought your first house and are ready to take control of your new home and life, but suddenly the house comes to life and takes control of you and your life instead
#f2irpi4 A1: when you've let your house become a better cook, cleaner, and parent than you, and then it pulls out the Your-Existence-Is-Now-In-My-Hands tap dance.
@Rhodesch435 Also the fact that then by extension they don't take anything that the women say seriously. They just ignored everything that Joanna and the women in Trifles were saying as "oh the silly women," so they missed everything that was actually important.
#f2irpi3 A1:
So I looked up what a trifle is cause that just looks like pudding to me
And it turns out a trifle is that cake thing but it's also something of little value, or something you don't really care about
Women are trifles to men in these stories
Am I right or am I right
#f2irpi3 A1:
The men in Trifles/Stepford, actively shoving dead bodies into the closet: Look at this trifle my wife made. Yeah, she loves doing housework. What do you mean she doesn't seem happy? I'm telling you man, she loves it. Doesn’t even need any other hobbies. Or friends.
@vickierpi yeah, I honestly found the imagery in both the shows and the songs to be disturbing. I can understand fantasizing about a "perfect" partner, but I don't like that in both portrayals, "perfect" seems to include "completely under my power."
#f2irpi2b A2: Just the the song described, AF709’s role is to obey every command without complaint because that’s what she’s programmed to do. Even her name (Rhoda) is given by Bob, and Bob gets excited when he realizes she could be his ideal woman (cont. below)
@MeopleSC I also noticed this in the materials this week. All of them portray things that are "wrong" to do to another person, regardless of gender. However, only Griffin received backlash for the pictures. I wonder if this song would have received backlash if it was more well known?
#f2irpi2b
A2: This song displays a scenario where a woman has power over a man, which contrasts Beard's portrayal of the inferiority of the female voice. However, neither portray equality between genders.
@MeopleSC I agree. Violence towards women by men is definitely more normalized- even if someone acknowledges it's bad, they're more used to seeing because it's present in media, throughout history, and in our everyday lives. So when a woman is attacked by a man, no one cares very much.
#f2irpi2a
A1: The woman's expression in the video doesn't change when the light is on/off. Relating to Griffin's photo and similar depictions of Clinton, the lack of opposition to Clinton's head shows how female oppression is seen for those in the spotlight and in everyday life.
@Evan7865 Interesting take! I definitely think the picture became almost allegorical in regards to what happened to Griffin- she was "turned to stone" by Trump and his followers. Do you see any connections between that and light turning off in the gif?
#f2irpi2a A1: This GIF relates to Hillary Clinton's situation. She shed light on the hypocrisy of many people who let the Clinton-Medusa connection slide but were against Griffin's view on it. This metaphorically turned Griffin into a workless stone statue for a bit of her career
