@CleanerOfBalls @neoliberal_hack Right, but a rich person wouldn't be burdened by a fine. A poor person would be extremely burdened by the fine, and further burdened by the criminal justice system when they can't come up with the money. This is what I mean about centrists lacking even basic class consciousness

@CleanerOfBalls @neoliberal_hack Enforcement is spending, it's just more expensive and less effective spending that makes our society more carceral and makes the crimes only apply to poor people

@neoliberal_hack such a great way to describe democrats instead of enforcing literally anything to prevent a the problem they wanna spend to fix it. Especially when it comes to discipline.

@neoliberal_hack Centrists are allergic to even basic class consciousness, which would make it pretty clear that a fine makes picking up poop optional for the rich, and ruinous for the poor, creating new problems and not fixing the 💩. At least some MAGA are *aware* they are bootlickers.

@SawyerMerritt @Starlink As someone who has actually lived in a rural area, I've seen how the USF has brought affordable, reliable fiber to millions. Fiber beats StarLink on every metric: bandwidth, reliability, latency, and cost, not to mention being decentralized and less prone to oligarchs' meddling.

SpaceX submitted a letter to the FCC telling them to consider ending a $4.5 billion fund that subsidizes voice and broadband in rural areas, arguing that @Starlink has solved the connectivity gap by offering fast speeds at competitive rates. SpaceX: “The Commission’s universal service programs must adapt to a reality where the long-standing problem of high-speed broadband network access has effectively been solved, rendering most legacy High-Cost support mechanisms redundant. In 2025 alone, SpaceX launched over 3000 satellites and added more than 270 Tbps in capacity to its constellation, with Starlink launches continuing at a similar pace in 2026. SpaceX also expects to begin launching its third-generation satellites later this year, providing a 10x increase in downlink capacity and 24x increase in uplink capacity compared to the current second-generation Starlink satellites. And, critically, the Commission’s recent order modernizing satellite spectrum sharing will dramatically increase the capacity that Starlink can make available to customers by enabling overlapping beams from multiple satellites to be placed in the same location. These developments will facilitate significant further improvements in subscriber speeds, while continuing to increase the volume and density of customers the system can support."

@bluedoggeosh @jriddlecult I supported Bernie, and then voted for Clinton, something y'all claim we didn't do despite Bernie supporters doing it at a higher rate than Clinton supporters in 2008 voting for Obama.

Just a reminder that if, in 2016, Dems hadn't nominated a weak, loser candidate who went on to blow the easiest election since George Washington's 1st, Trump would now be little more than the answer to a trivia question fewer and fewer would remember.

Just a reminder that we would still have the protections of Roe and the VRA if Bernie Sanders and his followers had just admitted he lost the primary by millions in 2016.

I have been in Congress long enough to recognize a talking point designed to protect billionaires. It usually sounds like this: taxing the wealthy will hurt job creation. Or: the rich already pay more than their share. Or: we need to grow the pie, not redistribute it. Here is what those arguments never mention. The richest countries in Europe have higher tax rates on wealth and better outcomes on housing, health care, and child care. And the 400 wealthiest Americans, who paid $600 million in lobbying last year, paid an average effective tax rate lower than a middle school teacher. These are not complicated facts. They are just inconvenient for the people paying to keep the current system in place. I am not paid to keep their system in place. Tax the rich. 💜

@Rightly_DTN @MarcoFoster_ @RepAOC @TeamAOC The ideological examination doesn't erase the party history, but it does make it clear that modern Democrats hold no ideological connection to Dixiecrats, and GOP does. The racist coalition within the Republican party is large and obvious, and the last gasp of confederate ideas.

You’re shifting from party history to ideological interpretation now. My original point was simple: AOC calling MAGA “the last breath of the Confederacy” while representing the party that historically backed slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, and fought early civil rights is wildly selective framing. Yes, political coalitions evolved over time. That still doesn’t erase Democratic Party history or magically turn modern Republicans into Confederates. History is more complicated than partisan mythology from either side.. bro you still use pronouns and call me a "clown" lol

AOC: “MAGA is the last dying breath of the confederacy. In response to a confederacy, we have this moment here of liberation, abolition, and revival of the values that make this country actually great. We have every freedom that we have today because somebody in each generation refused to accept the world as it was”

@GSDeutch Is American Priorities a corporate PAC? Is it AIPAC? No? Hmm, seems like he's met his own standard, which is a higher ethical standard than others in the race. Guess I'll have to donate to him, then. Thanks.

NYT: Bernie Sanders said in an interview that at 84, his days as one of the defining faces of progressivism in America are numbered, so he is working to help elect as many like-minded allies as possible up and down the ballot, from county commissions to the Senate. “By the time I’m 104 and serving my 8th term in the U.S. Senate — that’s a joke,” Mr. Sanders said, pausing for effect. “Yes of course, we’re building a movement for the future.”

I want to be very direct about something. Universal child care is not a radical idea. Every peer nation we compare ourselves to has figured out that child care is infrastructure and funded it accordingly. Enact universal child care. Tax the corporations profiting from the current system. Build the one every family in this country deserves. 💜

@Rightly_DTN @MarcoFoster_ @RepAOC @TeamAOC Revisionist nonsense and deliberate misunderstanding of what I meant by "became Democrats". Every extant politician with similar ideology are Democrats or further left and rightly fight the current enemies of civil rights: the GOP. You know all that too, clearly 🤡

They didn’t switch, man. Lincoln’s Radical Republicans stayed in the GOP or faded out. The racist Southern Democrats (the real Confederacy/KKK/Jim Crow crew) stayed Democrats for another 100 years. Black voters started shifting to Dems in the 1930s over the New Deal, not because the parties flipped. The same party that fought civil rights then is the one pushing identity politics and big government now. No mass exodus of Lincoln’s radicals to the blue team. Just history they don’t teach anymore. You can try to actually research a bit.. "hE/hiM" lmao who cares what ppl call you in the 3rd person while youre absent..so dumb lol

Funny how AOC calls MAGA the “last dying breath of the Confederacy” while riding for the actual party that created the Confederacy, founded the KKK, passed Jim Crow, and filibustered the Civil Rights Act. Democrats literally owned that history. Republicans ended slavery and gave us the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. “Liberation and abolition”? Babe, your party fought those tooth and nail. Try cracking a real history book instead of bartending-level revisionism. Peak clown world. 😂

@AlienKaraoke @TerrellSocialst If all of the folks pictured ran the party it wouldn't be. I don't know if the plan to make Democrats suck less is going to succeed, but it's making progress towards that goal and worth noting and building on that. If I'm going to pick an enemy I'd rather it be Soc Dems, obv.

Since the Citizens United decision it has become quite clear that firstly, small dollar individual donations are way more corrosive to public life than large corporate ones, and secondly, money doesn't buy elections anyway. The campaign finance laws should be repealed.
