In my first public remarks as @CFTC Chairman, I made clear that the agency would use the tools at its disposal to onshore crypto asset perpetuals. Today, the @CFTC delivered on that commitment. This morning, the @CFTC took historic action to permit the listing of a true bitcoin perpetual contract by a CFTC-registered exchange, charting a path for one of the most liquid segments of the crypto asset markets to exist within the US regulatory framework.

My wife and mother-in-law were involved in a road rage incident today in Rowlett while on the way to pick up our child from daycare. A driver in a Ford truck associated with @pillarroofing (TX plate: LJC 1424) became impatient while my wife waited for service road traffic to clear. According to my wife, the driver exited his truck, yelled at her, got back in, attempted to drive around her, and struck the side of our Cybertruck with his passenger-side mirror, causing visible damage. Afterward, he allegedly left his lane to continue the confrontation and made an obscene gesture before driving off. We have video footage from the Cybertruck and will be filing a police report with @Rowlett_PD Most importantly, my wife is shaken up after the incident. If this is someone representing your company, @pillarroofing, I hope you take this seriously.

The US needs a consistent framework for perpetuals to keep exchanges onshore. Prior administrations' refusal to provide direction has stifled innovation and moved American businesses offshore. Under my leadership at the @CFTC, we are creating clear rules of the road that allow - and encourage - builders to innovate here at home.
