We are determined to prevent smugglers from challenging the integrity of our external borders. We cannot allow illegal entry, the instrumentalisation of migration or other hybrid threats to create the perception that illegal entry into the EU can turn into legal stay. Europe must respond swiftly, effectively and in a coordinated manner. Protecting our external borders, preventing illegal migration and supporting Member States under pressure are our shared European responsibility.

Only France, Portugal and the UK supported Spain, the rest gave us the 🖕. Particularly repulsive behaviour from the nordics (🇩🇰 🇫🇮 🇸🇪), who often come to Spain for the cultural experiences they dont have & the sun they never get in their frozen gloomy countries.

Shame on Denmark, Finland, Czechia and, of course, Meloni and Italy for blaming Spain and reacting so contra to the spirit of the European Union. This was another form of hybrid attack on an EU member state and Spain deserves support, not censure.

@EU_Propaganda Oh come on. All they did is bring back some very limited border control in a few airports which will affect non-EU citizens and not Spanish ones. This is entirely overblown.

@MosiniElisa Al di là della "moralità" della sospensione del Schengen, non esageriamo. In pratica ripristina alcuni controlli in alcuni aeroporti, principalmente per cittadini extracomunitari.

@JoeyMannarino Spain isn't being expelled they're just temporarily reintroducing border controls until the crisis subsides, which is a commonly used provision of the Schengen Accord.

So far, four countries have supported expelling Spain from the Schengen Area:

Denmark 🇩🇰
Finland 🇫🇮
Austria 🇦🇹
No country has ever been expelled or permanently removed from the Schengen Area before.

When asked whether this Italy team is good enough:
