@faisidro @joshnaa2gez I'm glad I am not a Satanist like you and I am Christian now not doing Masonic handshakes in secret combinations in the Mormon cult Temple that the book of Mormon teaches against and says is of the devil and Christ doesn't look good upon it

Sure, I have to explain a few cooky things as a Latter-day Saint like gold plates, an angel, polygamy, seer stones and whatnot… But, at least I’m not, like other Christians, trying to explain why I believe in a god who caused innocent children to suffer for no reason other than that he willed it that way… But he’s still somehow good. In fact, he is goodness itself. Which is the same thing as saying, “It is good that innocent children suffer.” Yeah, Mormonism is a little bizarre sometimes. But I sleep well at night knowing my God is not a monster.

@Tower_Overwatch Of course, but the point is that they argue as if there's nothing wrong with them or as if it's not a big deal. To which I would ask why it's something that needs to be "fixed" during the resurrection.

If Mormons were true Christians then they would not: 1)proclaim the Book of Mormon to be true 2)proclaim Joseph Smith was a true prophet 3)teach tithing as a command 4)follow drink restrictions 5)Practice temple rituals 6)Sing praises to Smith 7)follow modern “prophets”

@Latterdaytruth I have a lot to learn, but I personally don't believe He married or had kids. It simply doesn't align with His mission. Why would He marry knowing He had to die, intentionally leaving behind a widow and fatherless children?

No better way to kick off my account than sharing one of my favorite verses about the Savior. Mosiah 16:9 He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death.

What is with all of these hypothetical questions about the Word of Wisdom? We can skip past all them and simply ask... Do you sustain the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the prophet, seer, and revelator and as the only person on the earth authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain the members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local leaders of the Church?

Mormons are not Christians, sorry.
sheriece@sheriece

@TheModerateCase I hope you apply this to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as well. They are professed Christians who believe in every tenant you just named. It is ridiculous that so many fellow Christians treat them so terribly.

@ferrell_travis I fully support Church changes, but this feels disconnected. We just got an apostolic warning about birth rates not following the world's trend, and then this communication drops right after. I completely get why everyone is talking about it.

@ferrell_travis I was baptized in 2010, but even I miss the boldness of President Packer’s talks. Reading older General Conference addresses really highlights how much the tone has changed over the years.

I’ve tried to stay out of this little controversy, but I will say this: Every criticism I’ve seen of this particular story appears to be based on projection. People are filling in the gaps in this short story with personal biases. Let’s respect this couple and the choices they’ve made. Let’s give them the grace we hope for. Let’s applaud them for striving to live their covenants in the best way they know how in their unique circumstances. Let us love them as Christ does. That is all.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints@Ch_JesusChrist

“I grew up in Arizona, served a mission in Mexico, and went to college thinking I had a pretty clear path for my life. Then I met my now wife Victoria, and everything changed in the best way. “She always knew she wanted to be a doctor. Pediatric neurology isn’t an easy road, but it’s who she is, compassionate, steady, brilliant, and drawn to help kids and families through the hardest things life hands them. When she got into med school in California, we packed up and moved. “Stepping into her dream together was an easy choice. I wanted to support her the way she has always supported me. And honestly, watching her work and sacrifice and love people like she does has strengthened my faith more than anything else. “My path hasn’t been as clear. I’ve tried different directions, learned a lot, prayed a lot. Some days I still feel like I’m figuring it out. But I do know that God doesn’t measure timelines. He measures love, humility, and the way we show up for each other. “Supporting her doesn’t shrink my purpose—it expands it. Our callings from God can look different, and that’s beautiful. I’m building my future too, but I’m grateful that right now, part of my purpose is cheering for the person I love most as she steps into hers. “There’s not one 'right way' to build a family or a future. For us, this is ours. And it’s sacred.” — Nate

@ferrell_travis The tone of official Church communications and General Conference talks has changed significantly over the past few decades. It seems long-time members struggle to adjust, while recent converts don't notice the difference. I'm trying to understand if my observation is accurate.

@Latterdaytruth Very good question! Difficult to choose any of these eras, however, if I could choose only one sacrament meeting It would be April 6, 1830 for sure.

@MattTestifies @Primary_Pianist Man, that is incredibly frustrating. You're actively trying to carve out a few minutes of reverence to prepare yourself spiritually, and getting literally poked out of your meditation is completely jarring.

@Primary_Pianist I try to come in a little quieter than usual. More prayer, a little more reflection, and I like to ask myself before sacrament meeting what the Lord has been teaching me lately so I can actually recognize His hand when others stand and speak.
