Ulf and Hugh are bastards who grew up in poverty. They weren't nobles or wealthy men before claiming dragons. They didn't risk their lives because they were completely loyal to Rhaenyra or because they were willing to die for her cause. They did it because it was a chance to change their lives. I understand why Daemon was angry that they ignored the queen command. He had every right to be frustrated. But slapping Ulf? That felt like a mistake. People have betrayed kings and queens over far less than being publicly humiliated. It just didn't seem like the smartest way to handle someone whose loyalty wasn't deeply rooted to begin with. Maybe this isn't a big deal to everyone, and you might disagree, but that's how I see it. What do you think?
