dYdX is one of the few DeFi protocols out there that’s actually making real revenue with real users. Just in the last 24 hours, it pushed over $220M in trading volume, generating around $54K in net fees that’s roughly $1.6M every single month at the current pace. Now, here’s where it gets interesting: Following a governance vote, 25% of all revenue is now committed to a monthly DYDX buy-back. That means every month, a chunk of those fees gets sent to a Treasury SubDAO, which TWAPs it into DYDX on-chain or on Binance. The purchased tokens are then staked for chain security, practically removing them from circulating supply. Let’s do some quick math: • $1.6M in fees per month × 25% → $406K set aside for buy-backs • With @dYdX sitting around $0.70, that scoops up about 584K tokens every month (that’s 7M a year). • Considering the circulating supply of 776M tokens, this process alone absorbs 0.9% of the float annually all from real revenue, not inflation or emissions. Why am I so bullish on This? 1.It’s self-sustaining. They’re using actual cash flow, not just printing more tokens. 2.It’s holder-focused. The value flows right back to those who believe in the project. 3.It’s a scalable flywheel. More trading → more fees → bigger buy-backs → tighter supply → stronger token dynamics → more trading. While most projects are busy chasing TVL with endless incentives, dYdX is literally buying its own skin in the game every single month. It’s rare to see this kind of sustainable model in DeFi, and that’s exactly why I’m paying attention.
