@Jenny_1884 It's all quite deliberate, conscious and premeditated. We - the British (and especially the native English) - are hostage to a hostile regime. Our only hope of rescue is the ballot box, but I'm not optimistic. We're menaced by malevolence, doomed to live in unserious times.

I’m sure everything this government is doing is on purpose to make us angry & to unsettle us. No government in normal times would behave the way they do & get away with it. 100% this government is being run by outside forces & that’s why they are protected & nothing sticks. Does anyone else think the same

@EmmaLjungberg5 @anxietymsgs To some extent, it’s hard to overlook the boost in self-confidence that a simple compliment on one’s appearance from a seemingly impartial stranger can inspire.

@SummerFantasies Nostalgia. I was thinking the other day just how brief childhood is. Blink, and you miss it. 10-20yrs. Like moving between universes, really. It's tough on all of us, and it's gone before we really have time to appreciate it.

A strange part of adulthood that no one talks about, is we’re all homesick for a place and time that no longer exists.

I've spoken to quite a few people recently who still hate Margaret Thatcher for what she supposedly did to the coal mining industry 40 years ago, but they fully support Mad Red Ed Milliband destroying the UK oil and gas industry. Strange people.

@lyrverse Bradbury easily rates as one of my favourite authors - the kind of prose that is a pleasure to read. Especially his 'Green Town' trilogy (and 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' in particular). One of the few authors I've read to hit some deep emotional notes.

Ray Bradbury didn't write Fahrenheit 451 in an office. He wrote it in the basement of a library— on a coin-operated typewriter that cost 10 cents every 30 minutes. He was 33. Broke. Newly married. And desperate for quiet. So he fed in coins and typed fast. In 9 days, he finished the draft. A novel about a world where books are burned-written in the one place built to protect them. The symbolism was perfect. Surrounded by shelves of stories, Bradbury wrote a warning: about censorship, distraction, and a future that felt close. He paid under $10 to write it. And gave the world one of the most important books of the 20th century. I share stories daily btw

I’ve been trying to get my 85-year-old mum signed on her GP’s app on her old phone for the last two hours with no luck. Keeps demanding two factor authentication apps which my mum won’t understand or to create a digital ID or passcode. This is digital exclusion.

@nib95_ 'Black Myth: Wukong' is for me a good definition of 'video games as Art'. Absolutely stunning-looking game - blown away by the character and environment design, as well as the cut-scene animations. Movie-level production standards, score, etc.

I get Crimson Desert has had many updates & isn't the same game critics played, but so far I'm FAR from critics on this one, just as I was with Black Myth WuKong May drop off hard later but so far I'm LOVING it. A grandiose & ambitious amalgamation of fun systems. #CrimsonDesert

@NextGenNero Marathon is absolutely worth its asking price - if you actively enjoy a hard-as-nails extraction shooter experience. It's beautifully designed - pedigree Bungie - but you'd better be up for it. Casuals need not apply.

I disagree. $40 for this and arc raiders is a steal and i have no problem supporting these devs for delivering me an amazing experience. These free to play games have no soul 80% of the time and they are egregious with micro transactions but justify it because the game is “free”
Zorbiqq@zorbiqq69

Marathon being a free to play game would have made it MUCH more popular. People don’t wanna pay 40$ to “try” out a game that gets good 10 hours in

@1GamewithDave1 Like a fool, I just agreed to go in tomorrow (which was a day off). On the upside, 'Death Stranding' is a long-term commitment for any gamer, especially me (I tend to dawdle about, gawping at everything, barely getting the missions done).

@AudreyTatton @NormanBrennan Retail staff are not expected (or advised) to put themselves in danger to stop this behaviour. Members of the public, outraged at the ease with which shoplifters operate, forget that nobody should risk a 'one punch' for the sake of a sausage roll. Nobody.

@NormanBrennan Absolute disgrace Those high street businesses that are currently just surviving the Rachel Reeves assault, will most likely shut their doors due to this level of looting and staff simply not wanting to put themselves in these situations 😡

Not to be THAT dictionary, but… It’s ‘per se,’ not ‘per say.’ It’s ‘dog-eat-dog world,’ not ‘doggy-dog world.’ It’s ‘hunger pangs,’ not ‘hunger pains.’ It’s ‘one and the same,’ not ‘one in the same.’ It's 'buck naked,' not 'butt naked.'

@RoisinMichaux Although, if it's any consolation, history does show us (very emphatically) that, in the final analysis, they'll all end up bundled out the door and be either dispensed with or sent off for some robust re-education. They think they're protected from their insanity. Nope.

@JunkScience Miliband, out of power in 2010, nursed his grievances for 14 years. In 2024, he hit the ground running, probably the best-prepared minister in the Starmer regime. Within months, he had his fake climate quango up and running to rubber-stamp his 'Net Zero' ambitions. On it goes.

A pretty good summary of how Britain wound up on its "forced" march into climate totalitarianism – don't miss the part about how the Conservative Party got it started: "When the Climate Change Act sailed through Parliament in 2008, it did so with overwhelming political support and barely a murmur of opposition. Only five Tory MPs voted against it on the second reading. "Such was the political consensus around the so-called “climate change emergency” that no vote at all was held when the Act was later beefed up further to make “net zero” by 2050 a legally binding commitment. "The costs were barely considered; it was 2019, and we were at the height of Greta Thunberg mania, a collective, mass panic about climate change, fuelled by the protests of a 16-year-old Swedish schoolgirl." telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…

Man's Rule
Man's Rule@iMansRule·
Work is not family. It is a system built on performance, hierarchy, and quiet competition. Closeness at work is situational. Respect is conditional. Loyalty is limited. The moment your situation changes, promotion, conflict, layoffs, those close dynamics shift fast. Sharing personal matters feels like bonding, but it often turns into information that can be misused later. Not always maliciously, sometimes just casually, but damage does not care about intent. Men talk too much when they feel comfortable, and comfort is exactly when discipline slips. Your struggles, your relationships, your weaknesses, those are not workplace topics. They do not help your career. They do not increase your value. They only make you more predictable and easier to read. A man should be respectful, cooperative, even friendly at work, but never fully exposed. There is a difference between being approachable and being open. Approachable earns trust. Over-sharing kills authority. People at work observe more than they admit. They build silent judgments based on what you say, how you say it, and when you say it. One careless conversation can shape how you are seen for months. So you keep it clean. Work talk, light conversation, controlled presence. Your real life stays outside. Your personal circle is where you open up, not the place where your income depends on perception. Because once information leaves your mouth, you no longer control where it goes.

Elon Musk on how the woke mind virus kills art: "Just generally for content, the problem with sort of the DEI and woke mind virus is that it kills the art. When you can see something that is forcibly imposed on the story and it’s discordant, it destroys the art. And now it’s hard to enjoy the story. It kicks you out of the story because you can just feel you’re being lectured." Does he get anything wrong here?
