@Alex_Niven Just to say, Cleadon and East Boldon, where the Greens have all 3 seats now, is very leafy (not studenty) which was previously a Tory stronghold. Different demographics to Byker and Elswick, proves Greens can win anywhere they target.
English

For those unfamiliar with the North East, Elswick is to put it mildly very much not a leafy student enclave (cf. Tish Murtha), and neither are the South Tyneside areas with Green gains, so there’s something demographically & psephologically nuanced going on here

Elswick (Newcastle Upon Tyne) council election result: GRN: 45.4% (+35.7) LAB: 41.3% (-24.7) CON: 8.8% (-9.2) LDEM: 4.5% (-1.9) Green GAIN from Labour. sotn.newstatesman.com/2024/05/britai…

@Billy_Bell99 @Alex_Niven Correct, will be a shirt term impact for the Indy’s. Greens more long term.
English

@BritainElects Got to be a student area surely?? - no fucker wants greens!!
English

West Park (South Tyneside) council election result:
GRN: 53.8% (+2.6)
IND: 26.9% (+26.9)
LAB: 19.2% (-11.8)
Green HOLD.

@CharliePDG @BritainElects A lot of hard work has been put in by the local greens to get these seats. Good old fashioned boots on the ground to make them seen as the alternative to the rotten Labour group. First win in 2019, now 11 seats. Not a flash in the pan.
English

@THillSpireite @BritainElects Just to say that the local greens have won the other two seats in the ward in the last two elections. So this was simply completing the job.
Bins and general rotten borough behaviour also a factor, but more in the Indy gains.
English

Cleadon and East Boldon (South Tyneside) council election result:
GRN: 47.5% (+34.6)
CON: 29.9% (-18.1)
LAB: 22.6% (-14.7)
Green GAIN from Conservative.

@GingerPirlo_ Tonali can play 8 or 6.
Bruno only 6, he’s too one pace.
The issue we had last game was Tonali playing too high up the pitch ahead of Brighton’s mid block, not receiving the ball and isolating Bruno. Big Joe is clearly carrying an injury, so the two 8s didn’t work.
English

@nocontextfm1 Was a couple of years above me in school, lived in my street. Played him on the field and he was released by Newcastle but later joined Bolton, Blackpool and got to the Prem with Sheff Utd the other year. Still with them.

As a strong supporter of public service broadcasting, I want to be able to defend the BBC. But the decision to take @GaryLineker off air is indefensible. It is undermining free speech in the face of political pressure - & it does always seem to be rightwing pressure it caves to

@fantasyfooty @SkySportsPL Newcastle United were formed due to a merger between Newcastle West End & Newcastle East End clubs. Man Utd just changed their name from Newton Heath, so they were never actually ‘United’ with anything.
English

Manchester have been ‘United’ since 1902
Newcastle have been ‘United’ since 1892
Extremely frustrating that SkySports have forgotten that.

@fmbIog Decisions first and foremost.
Then if they are a defensive player, concentration; attacking player, off the ball.
Then I’d look at pace, acceleration and determination.

@WorkTheSpace This is why you should never ‘tab out of your FMs’ :)

@miketually We had to write what biblical scenes were pictured and we just made them into Ronaldihno chipping David Seaman in the QFs to knock us out.

@miketually @ZackPolanski @Eco_Ty Got to love Ron like. Always puts himself forward, and when he does win, they do another election, and he’s back on the ballot.
