Cosmic lightsaber. The Hubble Space Telescope once captured a photo of a newborn star shooting out two bright jets out into space. Much more energetic than a sci-fi lightsaber, these narrow beams are blasting across space at over 100,000 miles per hour. This celestial lightsaber does not lie in a galaxy far, far away but rather inside our own Milky Way. Learn more: go.nasa.gov/4nb7L5B

It’s #SunDay! Here’s your space weather report for the week of April 24 - 30: • 2 X-class flares • 14 M-class flares • 18 coronal mass ejections • 0 geomagnetic storms This video from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) shows the week’s solar activity. Two X-class flares erupt on the right side of the disk at the beginning of the week. On April 29, a few spacecraft calibration maneuvers make it look like the Sun is dancing. Find out more about flares & coronal mass ejections: go.nasa.gov/3Naeuv9

Incredible. Awesome. Glorious. Hard to put into words how I felt while I was first going through theses shots brought back by Artemis II’s @astro_reid Since the images were so high fidelity, I was able to push the color to reveal details of the far side I’ve never seen before

The force awakens in newborn stars. Hubble captured some cosmic "lightsabers" far, far away. These are actually young stellar jets, colliding at fast speeds with nearby gas and dust. Happy Star Wars Day from the Hubble team!

May the 4th be with you! 🌌✨ Looking at this breathtaking solar eclipse captured from the far side of the Moon during the Artemis II mission, it’s easy to see why NASA astronaut Victor Glover said “We just went sci-fi!” during the lunar flyby. 📷: NASA

NASA HAS RELEASED OVER 12,000 IMAGES OF THE ARTEMIS II MISSION. The most extraordinary photographs of our generation, and most people scrolled past them. One day, your grandchildren will study these in a classroom.

It's a moon. We checked. @NASA's Cassini spacecraft got many close-up views of Saturn's icy moon Mimas, and still managed to escape and send the data home. Take a tour of Mimas and hundreds of other solar system moons at science.nasa.gov/solar-system/m… — and May the Fourth be With You.
