There was this woman I was very close to. She was older than me, but she treated me like a younger sister. We were always together, and she genuinely looked out for me. Her husband was a police officer. At some point, he got transferred to a remote area, and she left her shop in the city to follow him there so they could continue building their life together. He built a shop for her in front of their house, but business wasn’t moving well there. The painful part was that she was actually very talented. She’s one of the best hairdressers I’ve ever seen. She begged him for years to help her set up in a more open area but he always refused. Meanwhile, this man had buses he gave out for transport work, different sources of income, and from the outside you’d assume they were doing fine. But when you looked closely at this woman, you could tell something was wrong. She always looked drained and worried. Then one day, she had a customer over to make her hair. The customer noticed some money on the floor beside her husband’s car and told her maybe it had fallen from his pocket. So she took the car key to return the money.

@Ify__oma @Tobielobba @Elevenheavn Honestly which is bad I've seen kids that if you ask them about their childhood the first thing they'll say is "my mama and papa no try". We should learn to prioritise our happiness because if you're happy everybody around you will be happy vise versa.

@Benkive I have met patients like this alot, before you'll inject them they'll tell you to wait till they call their relatives who is either a nurse or doctor I tend to understand them because my parents does the same thing sometimes, as far as they're not rude then fine

Please judge this matter with me. A patient walked into the consulting room and after making her complaint. I was writing out investigations for her to do, only for her to hand over her phone to me that her Aunty who is a pharmacist in Australia wants to speak to me. I quickly declined, telling her that I don't work in that manner. She got angry and told the aunt that I refused to talk to her. This Aunty started charging on the phone oo. Telling me that I'm too proud. Who am I to turn her down. That many of us Nigerian Doctor are too proud in doing nonsense in the name of treatment It was looking like a movie initially until I got to me that I had to reply to her and asked the patient to leave my office. Please if you were to be in my shoes, how would you have handled it.

@Benkive To you but not there. Some things are not hard to deal with oo, we shouldn't really be stressing ourselves. Now you'll look like that proud and arrogant doctor to her, when this is something you can handle amicably

@Benkive You should have listened to the aunty but not in loud speaker, then wen she is done you hand over the phone to the patient and continue with your initial diagnosis without telling her what you discussed with her aunty, yes the aunty will tell her what she said

I wanted to buy fresh tomato last year and it was shaded for 200 naira and 500 naira. I said to the little girl (she should be 12 or 13) " put these 200 naira own but give me 5 places" She went ahead to put it in a nylon, when she saw that the tomato was becoming too plenty, she stopped and said to me "aunty this tomato too plenty for 1000, buy the 500 naira own for 2 places" I was shocked, I said "but na 200 naira and 5 places na 1000" She still insisted on not selling that tomato for me, even the shop owner did not bother coming out to know what was happening. I just left that shop and I no longer patronize them. Some of these traders are greedy and would use any opportunity to cheat you even if it means them losing a customer.

The woman i wanted to buy vegetables from said she doesn't accept transfer. I wanted to pay 5,700naira. I was about leaving to withdraw so I could pay her. She called me back and said she does POS. I told her I don't have my card with me and I'll still have to transfer. She said she accepts transfer for POS and not for her goods because they are two different businesses. She owns both. So I'll patronise her in two ways. It felt like cheating. I just left the sliced vegetable and left her stall.

i used to live alone when i was a young bachelor... no real friends, no girlfriend, no partying, no clubbing. just me, by myself, growing in silence and compounding wealth. at first, it felt like peace to me but deep down, it was chaos i battled every single day. walking around my apartment, i longed for someone to talk to. waking up, i wished there was someone beside me. cooking, i wanted someone to share a meal with. watching football, i wanted to scream GOOAAALL with people by my side but there was no one. yes, i had money but i felt really lonely and depressed. truly, no amount of self love, hustle or self improvement can replace the simple human need to be seen, heard and valued. introversion or staying alone, if left unchecked, can kill slowly. my depression only started lifting when i began going out more and building real connections.
