FDLE Special Agent in Charge John Vecchio stood alongside @SaoMiami Katherine Fernandez Rundle and @MiamiPD Chief Manuel Morales to announce the arrests in a drug overdose death that took place at music festival last year. FDLE’s South Florida State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication (S.A.F.E.) Task Force conducted a complex year-long investigation which resulted in four arrests. “Securing a capital murder charge in a drug-related death case is not easy, but the task force agents’ unrelenting investigative capabilities ensured that these four suspects are held accountable for bringing illegal drugs into our communities,” said FDLE Special Agent in Charge John Vecchio. “These four arrests reflect the hard work and coordination between the FDLE, the State Attorney’s Office, and the Miami Police Department.” You can read more about the arrests here: fdle.state.fl.us/news/2026/marc…

This sexual predator is one of the worst of the worst. FDLE found Blake McKinniss in possession of digital images depicting the sexual abuse of children, including AI-generated images depicting the sexual abuse of children, an anatomically correct, child-like sex doll, and children’s underwear when they conducted a search warrant at his residence in Sanford. He was arrested. He was put behind bars. And he will stay there for a very long time. FDLE will continue to work alongside @AGJamesUthmeier’s Office to make sure these predators are taken off our streets for good and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Encouraging the next generation to find their fit in forensics! FDLE Pensacola Forensics Lab members attended the Florida State University Panama City Career & Internship Fair earlier this month, talking with college students interested in a forensic science career in law enforcement. Through the combined efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, more than 400 illegal aliens registered as sexual offenders and predators have been identified and arrested across Florida — making our communities safer. Our latest arrest is Ariel Hurtado, an illegal alien convicted in Miami‑Dade County of nine counts of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child across five separate cases, and later convicted of an additional count of lewd or lascivious exhibition involving a child under 16. Hurtado was identified as a target during Operation Criminal Return, a coordinated enforcement effort between FDLE and @ICEgov focused on locating and apprehending illegal alien sexual offenders and predators. After analytical work and surveillance by FDLE’s Missing Persons and Offender Enforcement Division, Hurtado was located and transferred to ICE for processing. We remain committed to safeguarding Florida communities.

One crime gets you time. But what happens with two? James Frank II served time and was released last May following a narcotics investigation. Less than a year later, he’s back in the Escambia County Jail after FDLE agents found firearms and ammunition in his home — and as a convicted felon, he’s prohibited from having either. Crime doesn’t pay — and these two certainly didn’t when they stole more than $370,000 in retail merchandise. FDLE’s investigation linked both suspects to more than 150 retail thefts across several west Florida counties. Both are now behind bars, and @AGJamesUthmeier’s prosecution team will ensure they’re held accountable. Read the full news release here: fdle.state.fl.us/news/2026/marc…

Now, we are working alongside @AGJamesUthmeier's Office of Statewide Prosecution to hold him accountable. You can read more about the arrest here: fdle.state.fl.us/news/2026/marc…
