If you watch enough Michael Mann movies over the course of your life, you sort of start to see everyday life through Mann’s eyes. Mann’s directing style is so sleek & so sharp- it’s his trademark. He brings the audience closer to his protagonists with a style he’s perfected.

"Could be about to betray Ukraine"? The US betrayed Ukraine years ago, the moment it propped it up as a proxy against Russia. What Trump is doing now is dealing with *the failure* of this betrayal, trying to make Europe (and Ukraine, of course) bear all the costs for it. In effect, as is his habit, Trump is merely pulling open the curtains on the naked truth: a proxy relationship contains the implicit promise of abandonment, and the U.S. has a long history of doing just this (South Vietnam, the Kurds, Afghanistan - twice, etc.). Which means Trump isn't adding a new betrayal, he's delivering on the original one. The fact EU leaders call THIS a betrayal means that they still don't understand the game. Or rather, that they didn't even realize there was a game. And as such the bigger betrayal here is by them, a betrayal born of strategic illiteracy that they're currently compounding by continuing to act as chessboard pieces rather than players.

A European founder asked to meet up with me His startup is only 7 years old but just hit €7,000 MRR Incredibly fast growth I applied for a meeting permit with the EU government to ask permission to meet him for coffee 5 months later, the EU government gave the go-ahead and charged a €75 VAT fee We finally met up yesterday and had an insightful, yet quick 4 hour coffee chat during business hours I decided to invest €15k into his business Just got word that it's the 4th-largest venture investment in the EU this year I expect he'll do great things and turn this startup into one of the EU's largest businesses I could even imagine it breaking the €500k annual revenue mark someday (yes, it's a long shot, but it could happen) Never been more excited to be building in the EU
