Another race-based law in Canada, but this time it's public safety that is affected.
Aboriginal applicants can bypass the mandatory safety course and test with just an elder’s recommendation – no certified training. It gets even better: children under 12 can get a firearms licence for “traditional hunting practices” based solely on a recommendation, with no course or standardized test required.
Two-tier gun safety by ancestry is irresponsible, dangerous, and racist.

Bought first car in 1998 for $1,000. I earned $8/hr.
A comparable car today costs about $6,000 where we live, and kids are earning $20/hr.
That's 6x price increase with, say, 2.5x increase in wage.

Had a conversation today with a classic elbows-up boomer. We got onto mortgages, so I asked if she still had one. She said no, she paid it off about 30 years ago. I asked how, and she said she and her husband barely went out in the 1980s. Only a few times a year for birthdays and their anniversary. Her takeaway was that young people today spend too much.
I pushed back. I told her a lot of younger people do not go out much at all because they simply cannot afford to. The ones who are financially careful already know this.
Then I asked what they originally paid for their house. She said $50,000, with an interest rate around 15 percent. I asked about her husband’s income. He had a PhD and earned about $14,000 a year.
I checked the numbers using the Bank of Canada inflation calculator. That $14,000 salary in 1972 works out to roughly $108,000 today.
So despite the high interest rate, they were dealing with a much cheaper house relative to income, and their purchasing power was stronger than what a six-figure salary gets you now.
There are some who aren’t like that, but most of them are.

Too many boomers have this really toxic assumption that young people are unable to afford a house because they’re lazy and don’t work hard. Most young people I know are working full time specialised jobs, having the majority of their salary swallowed by renting (despite it being a flatshare) taxes and cost of living. It’s almost impossible for young people nowadays, without the help of their family, to afford a house. And then they get blamed for having a Netflix subscription or getting the odd takeaway as if saving that £300 a year would let them afford a £20,000 deposit.

Ask them if they trust the health system to help them when they get sick. Ask them if they expect to receive justice if a loved one is murdered. Ask them if they trust the people entering this country like they used to.

David Eby cannot have it both ways.
He cannot push to suspend DRIPA for up to three years while calling anyone who wanted it repealed a fear mongerer. That is not leadership. That is spin.
If DRIPA is broken enough to suspend, critics were not crazy for warning about it.
This is what a government in panic looks like: deny the problem, attack the critics, then admit there is a crisis when it becomes impossible to hide.
British Columbians deserve honesty, not hypocrisy.

Foreigners were "tolerated" but not really liked when living in Japan. I didn't know that you also had "racial discrimination" as an issue there
